I thought it was about time i started a project thread on this, even though i haven't yet got it.

Just before scrapping my old project, this court my eyes...




Within days of seeing the add up on here i had put a deposit on Its got 44K on the clock, with 2 owners from new, it comes with no seats and no engine for the sum of £500. May seem a lot to some but to me thats all good been as the shell is sound.

I'm collecting it on the 12th/13th of feb. Its 107 miles away from me up in south wales, i instantly thought a excuse for a holiday LOL. Me and a few mates are going up with a trailer on the 12th, camping and then coming back with it on the 13th ( i have work wed evening ) Cant wait

Plans....

1st up, its staying pretty much standard from the outside. Keeping it the same colour, archelss (chrome trim all along) and most importantly, its staying on 10" wheels.
These wheels might be going on it...

Got a set of 5 for £40 from Bingley hall, need a refurb but thats easily done, theres no kerbing at all

Not sure what I'm doing with the interior yet, going to concentrate on the shell 1st and the engine i think

The engine:

Hmm, again I'm not 100% on this.
I'm thinking 1340 or 1380cc
Webber of some sort or turbo
Its either being built by morspeed or swiftune, which ever gives the best deal

I'm hoping on a sleeper look, big inside and little outside.

More plans will be decided once I've actually seen it in the flesh (metal/rust).

Pictures will be taken (lots of) when we go collect and will be up here on the 13th hopefully

by the way, are you sure that the engine was QUOTE "I'm thinking 1340 or 1380cc" ... as i know, clubby just only have 998 and 1098 cc... check it out ~!

Thats what I'm having my 1275 bored out to, not what was originally in it I'm guessing it had a 998 in before but not sure, will find out when i have a look at the V5.

Well, its home

1st of all I'll bombard you all with photos of the Adventure...

We picked the trailer up

Loaded the car up

Got so far and had a break

We then got to the campsite and got the tent up then went on the rest of the journey to South Wales, Thanks to a closed road we ended up stuck at a dead end and had to unhitch the triler to turn around

Got the mini back to the campsite
We then got some fires on the go and started cooking the burgers

After some well earned sleep we woke up to this

The mini also woke up to the cold


Then it tried to hide from me

Started taking the tent down and it filled with ice

I then found some fury rust

We took a slight diversion to warm my feet up and perv over some tools

Then half a hour later... we over heated after climbing a HUGE hill

The hill was steep enough to make us put the Fronter in 4 wheel drive - low box

We lost the engine on the way

The mini then tried to fly away

We let the Frontera cool down, and it needed a drink of petrol

It then got a little warm again so we paid a visit to the garden center

And laughed at some chavs behind us having there nova taken off them by the bill

Then it was home


Few unexpected things happened on the trip and i think i paid over the odds for it.. but life goes on and i don't want to rant about it again LOL

Bad things:
Oversills
Filler on both wings and scuttl
Few patches on inner wing/hinge panel
Fair bit of rust on rain gutters

Good things:
Floor and boot floor are sound
Its older than i thought (registered in 1980 )
The shell is good for a 28 year old car, and the 44K on the clock looks to be very genuine.
The car has had 3 prev owners, 1st 2 being lady owners.

Theres a lot more work than i hoped but its a lot better than my old project so all is good.
Should be a fun car to work on, cant wait to get started now

Started ripping the soundproofing out yesterday, kinda wish i hadn't now lol




Was hoping not to see that when i pulled it out, ahhwell. All fixable!

These are the bits that are bugging my now though...




I know how to fix the rust everywhere else on the car but this is new territory for me...
Whats the best way of doing this? pref without hacking away at any of the roof.

Yay! Hereford!

Which hill did you over-heat on!?

Hereford was a cool place... but the people were rite miserable i found. The only sound person i met was a halfords guy playing with a car outside. i asked him for a close place to eat and i couldn't shut him up about burgers or the clubby. All the rest seemed to have hatred against Wolverhampton people, or they were all having a bad day.

And the hill.. was a juicy 1 with a lil garage at the top, but most importantly with a pub called the Royal oak at the top.
the satnav told me we were in 'Doddington'.

Got some little jobs done today.
Exhaust is off, gear stick thing is off, petrol tank is out and the better is out (the battery had stuck to the cables lol)

I (we) then got excited with a screwdriver and started poking things. this is what was found...




Funfunfun!!! The guttering has been filled with filler pretty much all the way around. Soon as ive got the adaptor for the generator I'll be getting the wire brush attachments on it .
