That's nearly as bad as the roof on my clubby! I managed to poke 7 holes in mine, plus the webastard sunroof. My guttering isn't quite as bad though. I'm putting a new( second hand new) roof on mine.

I though my shell was solid... then I choppped half of the back of the car of!

I have got an old roof i use for metal, it has got good guttering on it so if you want a roof corner section wih guttering let me know.

Well.. not much has happened here really as ive been focusing on the polo.

but i went to the garage today to take some pics of stuff i want to sell and to weigh some doors. i looked at the car and saw a wirebrush with a scrapper on the end and decided to play with it

Started with a bit of iffy filler and ended with these holes:




it then got bigger:


There are a few other tiny holes but I'm not bothered as the wings going to have to go.
Was going to do the other wing but i couldn't be bothered to push it out the garage with seized brakes.

You will all be glad to know.... i shall be starting work on this in the next few weeks once I've fixed the clutch+release bearing on the polo.
1st up is a complete strip to the bear shell to see what parts are usable and whats not, then to start cutting the rust out.

Then it will probs pause again until I've bought a welder and panels.

Nearly put this all up for sale on Monday due to needing to fix my daily quicktime. I decided against it and am surviving without a car for a few weeks.

The angle grinder came out today

Never properly used a angle grinder before, was rather scary at 1st but then it soon turned to being rather fun
Got the boot, bumper lights n whatnot off the back too.

Now I need a grinding disc to get rid of the rest up front. Only had a couple of cutting discs at the time.

AND... Whilst out the front working on it had a guy come up to me saying he had a mini a year or so back and that he had a few spares for um. Came back 15mins later with a black bag with spotlights, 4 Steering wheels (1 Astrali or whatever) and a few other bits n bobs. Said he's going to look for more stuff for me . What a legend! lol
Going to give them a clean up tomos and see whats what, everything looks to be in good nick, cant complain for free

Free is always the best price!

If your going to start cleaning up rust/removing paint with a grinder, don't use grinding disks. They are very hard and it's very very easy to wreck a panel with them.

You need to use flap wheels. Something like these. They are really good, the light grained ones (rated like sand paper) will take paint, filler, surface rust etc of, but the harder ones will grind back metal. Very easy to get a nice finish with this. They're not cheap, but they last longer than grinding disks and the finish is much better.
