Jynx's engine is ill.

1, 2, 4 16 bar compression. Number 3, just under 11, with oil it goes to around 13 :) Me thinks she has a shot ring :P

Will see how she goes for now while i try and sort an engine out.

Right, had the head off.

Number 3, oil coating, 1-2-4 heavy buildup of carbon. (Maybe due to the thermostat)

Number 3 also doesnt show any clean spots due to the swirl of a fresh inlet charge.

Put it all back together compression is still the same, headgasket was fine, valve stems and things.

Next task, build a leak down tester.

Compression is down to 12 on that one, but the others were at 14... i think my gauge may have gone faulty as i had to repair it.

Here are the pictures.

Number 2 and 3 chambers.

Up close on 3 showing oil.

All 4, bit black considering its injection.

Close on number 3, all clear.

Number 3 bore, polished at the back and front, slight scuffing lower down but couldnt get a picture

Number 2 bore

Some of the scuffs higher up

Piston 2 and 3, 3 had oil on it 2 had deposits.

Number 2.

Oil pooling in the inlet manifold, goes all the way down to the throttle into the head.

Been driving and all seems to be ok, most prob just going to keep an eye on number 3, dont think there is much else i can do.

Right a update.. but not a good one. Number 3 has finally died... well near enough, epic oil consumption and smoke levels. At the weekend i got this...

A £50 engine. Linered 1275 block.

How i got it.

There is no wear on the bores that i can see, needs fully cleaning up and there is no lip at the top either. Looks like i may have got a bargin if things carry on looking this way.

Forgot to say the rings have a 74thou gap. Need to find my haynes to see if thats good. They wont be reused just trying to work out milage.

This will now be the base for her new engine, wanting a tourque monster with good ecomany.
