Just read your thread and would like to congratulate you on a fantastic job and in such a short time.

by the way if your putting a full exhaust on the ZX9R and not just an end-can, i would recommend that you have it jetted.

All the best, enjoy and TAKE CARE.

Hi,

The rolling road is over and done with without as much success as i though. Cam timing seems to be out which is causing some problems.

The plan of action now is to get it though the MOT on friday and run it for a little while.

Then I need to sort cam timing, megajolt and exhaust manifold upgrade possibly and take it back to the rolling road.

Hopefully should be putting out close to 100bhp at the wheels then.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers

Jon

Hi,

Mini passed the MOT today so I am very happy. Still got a long way to go but at least I can drive it on the road now.

Need to get an alarm installed for agreed valuation as its not kept in a garage.

Going to be taking the head off in the next week or so to check the cam timing.

Cheers

Jon

Hi,

There has been a lot of loose ends to tie up on the mini but the list just seems to get longer, not shorter.Never mind its all good fun.

Anyway heres some pictures i have taken this morning, oneof my favourite bits about the car is the dash and seats. I have doorcards and gators on order so should be here soon to finish the interior off.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers

Jon

Hi,

Just a brief update:

This is the rocker cover i bought for £5 at Caste Combe in october, I took it to work and vapour blasted it and polished it all up. I am really liking how it turned out.

Also have had to take the discs off, as they were knocking on the calipers, took these to work also and put them on the lathe and skimmed a little off the OD.

So glad I have access to all this equipment at work, makes things so much easier.

Cheers

Jon

Looked at your project from the 1st page, Really nice Mini you have. My clubman should be built back up in the next few months. I will give it a month run in before i do any major miles in it just to be safe.

The rocker turned out well, did the skimming help with the knocking?

Hi,

I havn't driven it yet, there visually looks to be a little bit more clearance now, more like the drivers side.

Turning it by hand doesnt cause any problems so only time will tell i think, have to take it out on the road at the weekend when i get the brake system bled again just to be on the safe side.

Cheers

Hi,

Exactly one year on from joining the forum without a mini and I am a proud owner of an almost finished fully restored one.

Heres how it was when i bought it in february:

And here it is as from this morning, with doorcards fitted and a couple of badges to finish it off:

For someone who had no mechanical experience I am pretty chuffed with the results, only problem now is that in my week off of work next week, I have to time the cam in, not what i wanted to do after putting everything together, never mind, makes the experience that much more challenging.

All comments welcome.

Cheers

Jon

Youve come a long way :D

Looks super tasty, only thing id do is take the black gutter trim off and put a chrome one on as you have the rest of the mini covered in it, with bumpers, petrol cap, grille etc.

Doorscards look very good, like the blue (might be white) sew seam in them.
