If you called your club 'The Mini Clubman Owners Club' or such then you might be treading on their toes and they may react !!!!

Good luck with it though !!!!

My Clubman has a big bottom !!!

The thing you will have to be careful of is the fact that BMW own the 'Clubman' name !

The clubman estate register get away with it....
That could be because there is not a BMW "Mini Clubman Estate" but there IS a BMW "Mini Clubman" !!
Just something to bear in mind !!!!

Wouldn't mind being a mod if needed

Cant think of any better names than already suggested though to be honest, maybe start another thread with a poll on the best 4-5 names and see what comes of it?

The CER only 'get away with it' (not that we are doing anything wrong of course!) as we have not yet been approached by BMW to change the name. We started in 2002 before all the fuss about the lawsuits and closing-downs began, so it wasn't something we even thought about back then.
Now, we are simply hoping that a disclaimer (to the tune that we are a group only for owners of CEs made between 69 and 82 by BMC and Austin.... see www.clubmanestates.co.uk) and generally being polite to BMW will help. So far we haven't been approached.
If you were named the Clubman Saloon Register you could slot into a similar position, as there is no such thing as a 'BMW Clubman Saloon' as there isn't (in name) something called a 'BMW Clubman Estate'.
Another thing to consider is that (quite possibly) being a Register rather than a Club means that you are simply compiling a list of people who own one, and then getting together at events etc rather than creating a club. Don't quote me on this, I am not a lawyer, it's just a thought I had.
I think it's a brilliant idea, so don't give up on it (we shouldn't not do things simply as BMW are intimidating us) but please take the threat seriously. Unfortunately, discussing it on an open forum doesn't help

I don't think I forgot anything I wanted to say

i had a PM from a lovely TMF member who has experience in web design & forum building, who says he'll give us a hand as he's got a clubby himself, so that should be good.
We'll work longside to create a little forum, but we still need to settle on a name?!
