Hi, i'm wanting to put a fog light rocker switch along sidethe headlight, hazard switches and was wondering
if i could replace the brake failure switch with 1 for the front fogs

Just wondering wether it was essential to have the brake failure switch in or not ?

Yes it is essential, and you should use it weekly to check the light works!

You can buy a 5-switch bezel from most good Mini parts suppliers.

personally i would just use the brake failure switch. I think you will find it only lights up when your pretty much out of fluid. Plus im sure you would feel that the brakes are pony way before the light comes on.

If you drive the car fairly regularly you may not notice and ultimately you could end up wrapped around a tree ;)

Just my opinion, do what you like but personally I'd NEVER replace it with another switch that you could find another place for.

just fit a bracket under the dash rail. you may even have one there already? You ideally need all of those switches currently on the bezel...

Um I don't know of any mini dealers near pontefract really..

There's P&L Minis in Rotherham or Huddersfield Spares (*spit*) in Huddersfield

CLICKY <--- That is probably your best bet ;)

Just checked i already have the 5 switch bezel, Headlights, rear fogs, rear window heater, hazards and brake failure

Could i wire the front fogs up to the rear fog switch ?

Or replace any of the other switches with the front fog switch ?

Any ideas or advice would be a help thanks !!

You could wire the front fogs to the back fogs I suppose... in fact that MAY burn out the switch so it might be worth asking someone with more knowledge of the current that fogs draw for that one.

None of the others are removable really.

Have you not got a centre console, you could maybe invest in some toggle switches or something for both your fogs? Either way it looks like you'll have to have a think about moving a switch.

Sorry to hijack your thread but it's relevant to your question (just).

I'm fitting the Metro Turbo 4 Pot Calipers/Vented Discs to my MPi and was wondering if you could wire the "low pad thickness" sensor into the brake test switch somehow? I assume as it is a "short-out" type switch it could be wired to "close" and light up the existing switch?

I know it's important and would not recommend to remove it but it does seem such a waste of a switch as you only press it to test the lamp and then only see it lit when there's a fault? I'm pretty sure current day vehicles utilise the warning light to indicate any type of brake fault (pads, fluid, etc.) so it must be do-able?

I'll have a go and report back later.

Where would you suggest putting a switch ?

Well I don't know unless you have a picture of your interior? If you have a centre console, you could drill a 11-12mm hole in it and sit a toggle switch in it.
