As you can see it sticks quite a way from the head, because of the funny angle on the hose because of the spacing. Chopping it down will make a vast improvement though.
Sorry for the dark pics - need to fix the light in the shed

Tried cutting the inlet holes myself, but i'ts not gonna happen really. Nothing i had could do 10mm stainless plate!!
Also stripped the oil pump and checked tolerances and look OK to re-use. Oh yeah, the block is stripped too back to its bare guts. Got an early XE crank on its way to me which is meant to be lighter (also has no wear!!). Next on the list though is a full gasket set and a BIG load of ARP bolts.

Should be getting hold of an early flywheel too - again much lighter than the later type. Also on the lookout for a set of ACL shells for mains and big ends, not too expensive either. Head wise - set of madder cams, new followers, general clean up and a bit of port modification. Should give me the best of both worlds when its all bolted up, with the stronger early internals on a later stronger block. The only downfall is it will still have the horrible cast pistons, but will sort that out at a later date with a re-bore and some 87mm pistons. Won't be doing that yet though as a set of pistons are near on £450!!
Been back on the inlet manifold today, nearly finished a template out of some 1/2" ply, which will then be sent off to get cut out in the 10mm stainless plate. Used 45mm O/D stainless pipe instead of the 2" I bought previously. 45mm is about spot on for the head side - but the OD of the TB end is 2", so will have to get some silicon reducers or summit. Also doing it this way will allow me to add in the water bypass on the head, which can cause heating problems on XE's, which is not great news on a KS head, as they are known to go porus and pee oil into the waterways . For that matter, i may even end up doing the KS head mod so its as good as the cosworth / coscast head.
Should get more done at the weekend.
