Be careful with diets please, they are messy 'orrible things!

Are you doing it to lose weight or to tone up or get fitter?

I do (well havent in a while) sit ups but crunches (they are harder) and I do several sets of these. As Jammy said it wont get rid of flab, it just tones the muscles!!

Swimming and Cyling work most of you muscles and they are really fun :o

You could get one of the gym staff to draw you up an exercise routing as they will ask you what you are trying to achieve and show you what is best to achieve that!

They will loose the fat providing you eat correct and keep in a routine, the only way this wouldnt work is if you weigh about 600 pound and have plenty of exces skin after.

They're dangerous things aren't they? :P

I have a lots of joint problems but thought I'd be OK having a few games on the Wii last weekend...... We played the boxing game, bowling, tennis etc... the next day I seriously couldn't move my arms or left leg! It was worse than doing 60 lengths at the swimming pool!! >_<

Good luck Sheree... I'm swimming twice a week, when I can, and it really helped me reach my goals a few years back. Hoping I will start seeing the same results this time round- I'm working towards fitting into my wedding dress properly :withstupid: (17 weeks to go!)

I've joined the gym again need to lose a stone for a wedding in August >_< they are going to set me up with a personal trainer to talk through what i want to achieve and push me, they said they will change the routine every couple weeks though because your body will get used to it and won't do anything anymore.

Much as Jammy said really, you need to do High intensity interval workouts, this is best at fat burning. Anything like running, cycling, steppers and the cross trainer will all work well. And mix your routine up as Lois says, otherwise your body will just get used to the same exercises.

What you eat is also a key factor, I get my other half to eat "properly" during the week, and then she is allowed a cheat day. Its fairly easy to get her to keep to it, as its more or less the same as mine.
