wow, look what i found. check out the pictures on here ..... cooper

The picture in your link above of:-
"The Cooper works in Hollyfield Road, Surbiton in 1959. The cars on the forecourt are a Monaco, a Mk XII and two works F1/2 cars."

You might be interested to know the Cooper Works building above still exists (a couple of miles down the road from me) virtually unchanged but without the old Petrol pumps. I think it is now used as a garage for our local Traffic Police Cars (and ocasionally as the starting point of local Mini runs and photo opportunities!).

although not quite what anyone is after, you might find this interesting, wheather this was like this when it came out the factory, im not sure.

found it on a trip to the museum in gaydon.

aha, i was trying to find a pic of this but it seems i only have it on video :)

this is NOT an original cooper car co van, and if i remember correctly (from the museum data sheet) cooper never used Mini vans.

this is actually a "what it would of looked like car" created by the people who restored the van

still very cool and nice to see :xmas:

Haven't managed to find any old period photos of Cooper Mini Vans yet but thought I had seen some in the past towing Cooper race Minis.................?
Heres a good model of one though:-

That's the car I based the look of my RSP on, ISTR it's owned by one of the leading lights in the Mini Cooper Register.

I've seen it a few times at the annual MCR Beaulieu show and it's one of the Cooper Car Company, British Saloon Championship circuit racers from the late 60s and is a MKII 1275 S. It has an 8 port head with mechanical fuel injection but apart from that I don't know too much about the spec of the engine. I took quite a few photos of it as I was going to get the stripes and sign writing made up by a local graphics firm, but when my car came back from being painted I decided I preferred it plain. Also with my cars door handles being lower and the side indicators on the front wings would have meant that the stripes would have had to cut through both. Rover had a similar stripe set as an option on the MPI Coopers. Also my car is black and the one above is a deep green with maybe a hint of metallic in it.

The photos are tucked away somewhere but I haven't got access to a scanner at the moment, I will scan them and put them up when we have finished decorating and I get my desk back.

My car -

What size wheels are they, 12"?

^_^

i'm sure i've got a brochure somewhere for a simular car done by a company called Paul Huxford who did cooper replicas before rover started doing them

yes your right, but then they got in big trouble for using the cooper name :sneaky:

this is another one of their adds but unfortunately the car does not have the stripes fitted, strange because most of their cars did ???

That paul huxford man who modifed the minis what is the decal at the back of the red mini and do u have any more info on these conversions and pictures :dontgetit:

The decal looks like the old BMC rosette?

As for Paul Huxford's Mini Coopers. Well he had to stop using the Mini and Cooper names after Rover and John Cooper (or so I'm told) threatened legal action. So he then called his Minis 'Viscount' cars instead and you could buy a 'Viscount Formula R' or a 'Viscount Formula S' depending on what performance you wanted.

The cars did come with 10" wheels and classic style interiors (even if the classic oval instrument pod didn't have chrome bezel/surrounds).

These cars cost around the 14-15 grand mark in 1989/1990, so Huxford wasn't around long after Rover launched the Rover Mini Cooper in July 1990 for a fraction of the price.

Yepp, its the BMC Rosette... I used the Special Tuning one on mine but they seem to be really hard to get hold of if you want durability AND a clear image :(
