would you prefer lorries to be on the motorways or on the A roads. Why do you think the motorways were built in the first place? Did you know minis were delivered round the country on car transporters.... there lorries, plus all the parts that I'm sure you buy a lot of for your mini are delivered by lorries. I not having a moan or grown because I am a lorry driver but some of us do our best to be courteous to car drivers but there are a lot of bad car drivers that do cause traffic jams aswell.

or the one thats lets you get halfway past on the motorway then speeds up to 55mph so you have to either slow down to let him go or indicate and just pull back into the slow lane cutting him up, etc,, etc,, etc.... :gimme:

In my defence if I’m only in they mood to drive at 55-60mph on the motorway in the mini (minis and motorways aren't a great mix) and you feel the need to overtake, then bloody well do so and not sit there for the next 10miles.

There is one other huge floor with this idea of lorries on lane one, if all the trucks are in lane one, doing a constant speed, how the hell would other vehicles join and exit the motorway, as all lorries in lane one will clog the whole motorway up.

I'veheard of some silly ideas before but this is a joke.

Truckers are one of the key players in this country in keeping the country going 99% of daily item are transported via trucks without them, so many items would not be available, delivery timescales would be silly, and proces would rocket.

Now I only drive a 3.5t luton, but I can often be found tucked up the rear of a nice artic on the motorway, as its a comforable speed to do when your doing 80000 miles a year.

Our truckers and haulage industry is in desperate need of the support from our people as imho the haulage industry is facing a crises situation, its so highly competitive that with fuel prices and running costs many of the firms are going bust. Eventually the cost of transport is going to far outweigh the value of the goods being moved, and guess who will be paying the extra??

Another interesting fact for people to think about, companies like Eddie stobert, and Jame Irlams work to a profit margin of 3% so when fuel shoots up in price its easy to see how hard this affect thems, and it can be the difference between making a profit and not

Are you for real? Have you never seen a big load on the motorway? Like a train, or a 200 ton crane? Those things are HEAVY. They physically can't move at 56mph. I'd hazard a guess that they aren't ALLOWED to do 56 either. What I'm trying to say is that your idea is utter nonsense. And you seem to be the only one who hasn't realised it yet.

you need to calm down, everyones intiled to there opinion. there's no need to shoot him down.

also this is spme good advice raz put together well done

What p***es me off is lorries overtaking each other on dual carriageways when they take about 2 minutes to complete the manouvre.. then the lorry that has been overtaken decides to overtake that one and so on.. just because they can't be arsed to remove their foot off the floor.(i have an HGV licence)

The other thing i hate is being stuck on national speed limit roads(single carriageway) behind lorries and busses. The A40 is desperatley in need of being a dual carriageway between Oxford and Cheltenham, As soon as you head for oxford, you get stuck behind busses and lorries in a big queue of 40mph traffic which can't overtake... the local government try and solve this by making bus and cycle lanes everywhere and recently spent £6M on a cycle path between Witney and Oxford... thats £1m for each person that uses it!!! (there's only 6 of them.)

I like lorries, they always let you go and flash you to move infront of them! I perfer them being on the dual carriageway, cause at least you can overtake, it does get a bit annoying when theyre on the A roads though, especially when they take a while to get up hills and therefore my mini struggles! Buses are a lot worse though compared to lorries, they always stop in the road and pull out on you!! I think lorry drivers to a good job! It must be bloomin difficult driving one and getting round corners with such a gigantic trailer, then theres the amount of gears they have, it throws me off having 5!

anyway, getting back on topic and ref to the original post, there are some bloody big lorries on our roads and we drive very small cars,so a little common sense and forward thinking is all we need to remain safe and get to where we are going in one piece!

Exactly!! Only a warning, you never know who might not be that experienced on motorways!!

When I was driving on the motorway yesterday, I looked to see which of the lorries were foreign...there were a LOT of them!

you need to calm down, everyones intiled to there opinion. there's no need to shoot him down.

Again. Exactly! And I dont want my topic being made into a big argument, so calm down boys!

also this is spme good advice raz put together well done

 Well done that man :gimme:
