how could you get a link to a webcam in a posting - like the way we link to youtube videos?

not possible for a live link unless someone can directly script you the software and find away to make it work on here.
You could use pre-recorded ones through youtube or something like that though.

Do you want a live link? - As stated above, not possible you would need broadcasting software, but the the 'code' would have to be accepted on here. HTML, etc, etc is not accepted on here.
So no, not possible - best thing todo is save to youtube and post a video that way.

I had my webcam take a picture every 5 minutes, then stitched them together to make an animated gif image. Not live, and the image can become very large very quickly, but works.
As the above have said, to make a live webcam work we'd need to allow html to be posted, but we don't.

This CAN be done on this forum, there is a webcam server called webcam2000 that serves up a jpg image on the fly using the built in web server, you would simply need to use IMG tags that point to the server/image address which would show an up to date image every time the thread was loaded. Easy!
As an example, this is a webcam, the image is up to date when you load the thread:
