Sounds like Pipex and Tiscali servers aren't being updated with the new DNS addresses! Again, I'll look into it...

There is a problem with your ISPs DNS or the proxy you or they use.

There is a couple of work arounds though >_<

First make sure it's not your own DNS cache.

start > run > cmd

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew

If this dose not work then add the ip to your hosts file.

start > run >%systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

In the open with dialog box that will apear, select notepad

Add this line to the file.
89.149.242.87	www.theminiforum.co.uk

Save the file, reboot your pc and TMF will now work

If your using any other OS than windows, let me know.

Ooo, thank you very much Mort. Been looking all morning at ways of getting around this problem. Unfortunately this deep into servers isn't my forte!

It's just a case of Pipex / Tiscali having a really slow update time for there DNS. Has always been the case, took over 2 weeks for one of our servers ip's to be updated with them. When it was first done 216 calls from pipex and tiscali users in one day.

Just had a quick peak at the TMF server to double check, no problems really jsut a couple that are worth fixing if you get time. (Or get sting hosting to)

ns1.stinghost.co.uk (89.149.242.87) allows recursive queries. Basicly anyone could use this NS and this can cause problems, but probaly not.
ns2.stinghost.co.uk (78.159.98.140) This won't respond at all, is it dead or dose it auto fail over to this ns if ns1 fails?

Right have done the suggestions that Mort gave but it will still not load at home!!!!!!!!!
Is it because we are on a LAN and this is needed from the main operating computer were the wireless internet is hooked up?

Hi Ian,

It really depends on how your network is set up. If i have got the jist of how your network is set up then yes this will need to do this on the computer that servs the others. The hosts file change should "in theory, but this is windows we are talking about" work on your local machine.

I have a few other work arounds, please can you let me know what router your using? If the computer that servs the others the internet is connected to the interney via a modem then you will indeed need to update the hosts file on this. If it's connected via a router let me no the router make and model and i will talk you through how to set it up to use an alternative DNS.

Yeah we are using the netgear product with two laptops attached to a stand alone via wireless (I think bluetooth, but can't remember)

Oh forgot to mention when I did save the ip and web address to my hosts file it came up unable to save changes and then told me to do via a save as, but I did place it under the specified path.
