:( funny you should say that really, there are at least two members on here that are apparently DVLA employees, plus there are several police officers, not sure about MI5 though. :P

Anyways, as above really, to use it to rebuild a car from second hand parts is classed as ringing. Plus, not declaring it SORN then using it again could set you up for a nice big fine if you do reregister it.

Just because people are daft enough to be featured in a magazine with a car that's been illegally rebuilt using second hand parts and logbooks, doesn't mean that everyone should follow suit.

You shouldn't be fined for not SORNing it, if a car has been off the road since before SORN rules came in then as far as I'm aware it doesn't have to have been SORNed. Might attract extra unwated attention from the officials when you put it on the road though, which if you're building a borderline / illegal car could be a bad thing...

They aint getting away with it. They just haven't been done for it, yet!

I mean, to me it's stupid. Get your car featured in a magazine, let the print tell every reader that it's a ringer! The blooming numberplates are NEVER even blanked out! :(

It would be quite feasible that someone could go through back-issues of MiniWorld and Minimag and report ALL of the cars that have been reshelled, or have used second hand logbooks and report them all to the DVLA. I'm not saying anything would happen, but it could do and they've opened themselves up for it.

might wright to dvla to see what can be done
dont know if they will bend a bit for special cases
what you think (he asked them knowingly)
or just to go for it and see what happens
