And then............my little one!!!
just so everyone knows (name and shame time)
the people in the elf to the right of this pic were playing football in the main mini car park just as i was leaving (i was parked about thirty feet down from them)
just as i left i witnessed the ball bouncing of a mini 30 parked near by. i actually stopped and gave them such a look that they put the ball away, but probably only until i was out of site. some people are just so f-ing arrogant and thoughtless.
so there you go, named and shamed >

yes i do have kids, three of them and yes we had just spent the afternoon playing tennis, football and Frisbee in the park but we chose one of the many clear and open spaces available in the park, one of which was only 50 yards from the car park, in which to do so.
we did not choose to play with a heavy leather football in the crowded car park of a classic car show that was full of cars that people had spend time and money looking after.
you could see people giving them looks of disbelief and they were clearly aware that people were not impressed with them, and it wasn't just the kids either, it was (i assume) their grandparents as well.
its not what you do, it's where you do it >

i can just hear the conversation now.....
"where shall we play football then grandma ?. over there in the wide open space...."

"or between these two rows of classic cars ?"

"no no dear, dont tire your stumpy fat little legs by walking 50 yards, just play right here. who cares about peoples cars that they have spent time and money looking after. oops, you just bounced the ball off the roof of that mini 30, how funny, lets carry on shall we"
come on, dont give me that "kids are kids. i bet you did it when you were young" C**p because i didn't

I agree and I would also insist on him playing well away from other peoples property.(In fact he would not attempt to play football near other peoples cars)
It is all down to respect and if the parents/grandparents don't respect other peoples property then what chance have the kids got!!!

Also, partly due to my car refusing to start... battery earth cable corroded so not making good connection... ended up driving home with it stuck on with one of these...

S'pose I'd better go buy a new one....
For the record, roofless's recorded 111+db on the scale, mine only a measly 102 this year ( must have sealed the pipe a bit better, or my tappets are a little quieter )
Must admit, this is still proving to be one of the best shows of the year, and even though the MC's tones can get a little grating at least he manages to get some participation in the event, it's good to hear, see and meet some of the people behind the vehicles, no matter the age or condition...

Thats the joy of the Mini scene, you'll always find somebody to talk to.
I normally travel with my club, but, hey if nobody else fancies it, I'll find someone to annoy.
Great day in Birmingham, a little tarnished by a stone shattering the windscreen on my daughters 1000 (dirty, scruffy, tasteless and at every show she wants to go to!!!!) 3 miles from home. First time shes had that happen so a bit of a shock for a newer driver.
Still fixed this morning, and ready for a few local shows then Mini in the Park

Yes agreed. I was just refering to the fact that it is hard to stop my lad kicking a ball if it is around.

what about the parents that just stand there and watch their kids fiddle with bits on your car - several times i had to ask kids to get out and stop pulling at the steering wheel and gear shift - dont get me wrong its a great thing to be able to show off your pride and joy, but is it feasible to electrify ceertain components to stop them fiddling?
maybe a cattle prod would be good for the next show ?

and yes it is the parents/grandparents/carers that should instill a level of respect in the kids.
i see loads of kids, and adults for that matter, mauling other peoples cars. i have a very simple "don't touch" policy

but I parked up next to roofless in the sound off... just so I could say Hi...
No photies I'm afraid, but if anyone cares to have a scan through their pics of the weekend, post up a picture of which one you think it is... the clues are there, and I'm sure if you looked around the web you'd find a picture or two...
