Hey everyone. My last mini never got a project so Im going to do so with this one. I hope to try my best and update this every day or so with lots of pictures etc because I know how much you all like them :( . Well first thing's first, I must introduce you all to my mini! He started life as a 1991 british racing green mini mayfair. I then bought him in October and I have done a few "modifications" to him since then. Here are a few piccies of him when I first got him:

As you can see he is in great all round condition with only 35k on the clock.

A couple of months after this I then began to think that I wanted a slightly "meaner" look, and so I added a set of group 2 wide arches from custom minis;

Posted Image

A few months ago now, I decided to treat him to a brand new set of wheels as his old ones didnt fit the arches too well;

In february I then decided that my little 998 was lacking a bit in power and so I bought this little beast:

And a couple of weeks after my purchase.............. Out with the old:

..............And in with the new;

Off to work now to earn some more pennies lol, will post some more later on!

Ash.

Engine spec is as follows:
The block was a low mileage unit which was chemically cleaned then decked 20thou, The block was then fitted with a MG1275 cam, the gearbox is a fully rebuilt close ratio cooper S / GT box with the correct 22G1040 laygear. Straight cut drop gears are fitted along with a competition 3:9 ratio diff with hardened diff pin, 12G295 head which is FULLY WORKED & has 35mm Rimflow inlet valves & 29mm exhaust valves, Lightned S rockers, high capacity water pump, competition Oil relief valve, Lumenition Electronic Dizzy with Lucas Sports coil, new plugs, oil filter, dizzy cap,starter motor, new clutch plate.

Went to the rolling road at minisport to have it all set up. Rob was very helpfull and the end result was 65bhp and 60 1bft so I am well chuffed with that. The best bit was the torque curve that was really smooth. I will dig this out but for now here is a link to a little video of m baby on the rollers;

What do you all think?

And here are a few more teasers of my engine at its different stages of assembly;

My most recent purchase is my minitastic fastroad coil spring conversion kit. A must for me because I was sick of sagging cones. I must give minitastic credit too because the kit was absaloutely fantastic and has really modernised my minis handling whilst keeping all the good mini characteristics, not cheap though but should last me a few years :D . Whilst replacing my cones I also invested in a set of protech alloy adjustables and I really do rate these. They are extremely lite yet really strong and easily adjustable on the car, I had no hastles fitting them either wich is always a bonus! Unfortunately I dont have a piccy of mine, I was in too much of a rush to put them on;

I'm also really excited now because on the 28th of this month I am going down to custom minis to pick up my parcels hehe. The list includes a clubby 2 piece flip front and carbon fibre bonnet with all the trimmings so in approx 3 weeks its goodbye to the old metal panels as I grind them off :D .

Update, yet another purchase!

My front seats, although cool with that retro look, are not really that comfy and so I have purchaced a set of black leather recaro's off of garret3, so I am sorting out a courier to collect and they should be in for next week! Piccie:

Been out doing a bit more fixing today! Since I installed my drop bracket my indicators stopped self cancelling, thats all sorted now. Also added my air vents to my dash so the only holes left to fill now are for my guages.

Looks all nice and well done :lol: where abouts are your speakers located & what's the switch for on the left hand side of the bezel, under the bottom rail?

Hiya mate, my speakers are under my rear seats and on my parcel shelf, piccy's? The switch is effectively an immobiliser.

Yeah pictures wouldn't go a miss :) I'm trying to sort out in my head where I can place my stereo system, I was going to buy a dash and replace the airvents with 4" speakers.. I'd get good sound, but I'd loose my 'air con'. I think the window wound down would work well though.. and seeing as I don't use the motorways, It'd only be country lanes and small towns.

sorry to hi jack, what about fitting the head unit in one of the rear bins ( if it will fit)
and make a cover to hide it..

I'm happy with putting the headunit in the dash as I've got an alarm installed, but I'm a bit oooerr as to where I can place my speakers.
