take it to a machine shop and get them to measure it with a dial bore gauge.

Exactly what I was thinking, you need to take it to an engineer who knows how to and has the equipment to measure it properly. If you take an approximate measurement and end up buying the wrong pistons it could be a very expensive mistake.
