oh come on, I've had enough of this now, too much arse licking for my liking

at the end of the day, anyone who preaches about a "family forum" and "please no swearing" yet still chooses to have a user name with the word Basturd in it is hypocrite

i dont care what you say, my 8 year old daughter is still going to read it as bastard, oh i can hear it now, "daddy you have a message from a guy called jammy bastard" !!!!!!

nice :(

at the very least change it to jammy b, and regain the respect you have lost >_<

and dont come back saying we are only guests, if that's how you feel maybe we should all leave you too it then ????? one man forum, sounds good

where the hell does it say that the moderators own the forum and can twist the rules ???

All those who think I should change my name forgot that you are here as guests of those people who use their own spare time everday to ensure you ungrateful little scrotes have this forum and website to use. Besides, at no point did I realise the word for an illegitimate child was swearing. Myself and my name were here long before most of you and it will not be changing

you have shown your true colors over the last few days and i for one have the guts to say.... i dont like them

My new best friend :D

I totally agree with what Anorak says. If we all are merely just guests and not respected members of this forum then how about we all just leave it to you?

Sure yeah if it wasnt for you the forum wouldnt be here but remember its because of all these members that the forum has developed and maybe a little respect towards them would be nice?

Maybe abit more thought should have gone into what you said.

100% appreciate your support, :D but please lets not turn this into the same slanging match as the last topic.

if we present our case in a mature but firm way.... just maybe it will be listened to this time.

although if we really want to go to town on the whole family forum argument, some of the bouncing boob avatars are pushing the limits ^_^ :(

unfortunately this is coming across as a "lets gang up on jammy" subject, it's not, but the point is very valid and a decent person would take that into consideration :o

i tried to stay out of it but four pages of bum kissing was just too much >_<

I think the problem here is that there are people on this forum who are happy to have a good moan about things, berate the staff and their work, but don't seem to have the capability to put it across in a decent, mature way. Instead they will resort to insults and off-the-cuff remarks.

Some of you will probably think that Jammy's post in the other thread is exactly as I've just described above, but those of you who've been on the forum for a while will know that his post was just a little out of character. In fact, its probably the only time you'll ever see him blow up like that.

You need to be aware (and yes, I'm probably repeating whats already been said here) that we run this forum in our spare time, for fun. We don't like it when there are disagreements, we don't like it when people fall out and its left to us to sort out the mess as best we can, we don't like it when people are unhappy with the forum, but we have to accept that not everyone will be happy all of the time, thats just the way it is. So, just as people fall out, even us admin and moderators are human and have the occasional lapse. We try to keep it a great place for everyone to come to, but with nearly 15000 registered members its not going to please everyone, and sometimes we take it perhaps a little too personally, it is after all bloody hard work to keep this forum going. We do however know that without our members the forum would be nothing.

Also, you'll probably find there's not many times that Jammy isn't online - he's on the forum all day during the week when he's at work (I'm not sure how productive he is at work!) - so he probably bears the brunt of a lot of the problems that need sorting out when the occur, simply because the other admin team (me included) are at work and can't get to a computer until we get home. Anyway, enough said on that.

So, on to Jammy's username - I see Anorak's point entirely - if we are a family forum then why does one of our admin have a slightly altered swear word as his username? I agree, it is hypocritical, but no one has ever complained about it before. Its always been like that! To comply to the letter of the forum guidelines then yes, he shouldn't have the name he does, but to be honest I'm not about to change it. I'm of the opinion that for the hard work put in a little leeway should be allowed. Now, if there is a massive disagreement about this then maybe we need to rethink things, but I do think its quite harsh if it gets to that stage.

I think I've gone on enough now, I'll be online for a bit longer so I will wait to see some of the replies.

OK, have to agree with that one, and this is why his reaction is so shocking

not sure on this, the question has to be .... why ???

lets think about the term family forum, what age range does this cover ?? 16 and upwards??? i think its more likely to be 7 and upwards and OK basturd is not a swear word but i dont really want my kids seeing it.

i dont think we should be looking at this as "jammy needs to change his name because hes a naughty, nasty boy"

it's more like "jammy needs to consider changing his name because he is in a position of authority and should be setting an example regarding the rules of forum to avoid coming across as a hypocrite"

"jammy b" would have the same effect without young members being exposed to the full version, the older members have the "life experience" to know what the b refers to.

the fact that it hasn't been mentioned before is not really the issue in my opinion, i have always considered it "unusual" that it has not been addressed before

ultimately, the decision should be made by jammy and the outcome will speak for itself >_<

no further comments, your honour :(

Again, this is a fair point, and I can see your reasoning behind it.

ok , this issue of username has come up before and caused quite a stir last time,
have a look at silly chat dated 27th feb a joke written by myself called 5 germans in an audi quattro!
i mis spelt a swear word in that and it caused mayhem and jammys name was brought into it and his end reply was if you dont like it tough attitude.
there does seem to be a rule for one and one for another.
i think you need to make the rules and adhere to them.

don't you all have better more concerning things to do than to moan and complain about a guys username?

its the principal and the hypocrisy that we are concerned about.

and it seems like there's more than one user name that needs a re-think :(

a quote from the forum guidelines....

Usernames and Accounts

When creating a user name, please take into account the guidelines, any abusive/bad language seen in usernames will be looked upon harshly and will more then likely be deleted on sight. Please also note that for aesthetic purposes please use short words and spaces to break up longer user names.
