i'd say as long as the bore of the post is ok you should be able to get away with a new shaft.

Ooof not good. They look like tough puppies aswell, what make are they? There must be some kind of guaruntee, maybe a replacement set sent out? Or a replacement shaft if you're happy that the tower is okay.
On another note, 5th picture, theres a lot of oil in and around cylinder two, is that normal?

supprised you can remember after all that beer.

yer i was just wanting info about the wear on the post jammy.

yer i will be able to get away with just a new post after inspection. its just if you have a standard shaft it IS going to break when cammed etc, because on no1 valve it has an extra oil hole. picking up a heavy duty one tomorrow.

well, everything is cleaned and dry ready for the new head gasket, rebuild the rockers tomoro and fingers crossed everything should pan out okayyyy for saturday... I HOPE! *touches wood*

p.s. you dont get a garentee with second hand parts, and i think i dropped some oil in cylinder 2 =p just random i think, all looks good

The rocker on that end, with the shaft still sticking out, does the shaft come out of the rocker easily?

Yeh, along those lines, just saying to Jammy though, it didn't look to get that warm, no signs of "bluing"

I think the post needs replacing, which it sounds like you've already decided to do. It ain't just paint it's anodising. An anodised surface is a bearing, a plain surface isn't. It might look a little worn now but run it a few hundred miles with no anodising and it might get far worse. Having said that of course the standard posts aren't treated in any way and neither are the standard arms but these posts are designed to be anodised. Where are you going to get a replacement post from? I thought you could only get them as part of a full set.
