For 200hp as Bud says, you'll not need Carrillo rods or a forged crank etc standard A+ stuff in good condition will be fine, it's revs that kill these parts & generally Turbo motors don't need to rev excessively to produce good power.
If you wanted to do some work to the rods for the sake of peace of mind then having them shot peened is worthwhile, otherwise just a nice balance up. But whatever you do i'd use ARP rod bolts, and the head studs if you can afford it.
You'll be looking at a double grey diaphram, AP Race plate, steel flywheel & backplate, SC box, SC roller drops & Minispares crosspin diff or LSD.
If you want a suitable cylinder head i can sort you one out at a much better price than the usual suspects.
As said above, the Turbo is the key factor, producing enough efficient boost to push you over the 200hp mark without being undriveable low down. So the stock Metro T3 and the popular R5 spec T2 are no go.
Mine made 184hp at 16psi with loads of fancy engine parts, but the limiting factor was the Turbo.

this is true i would get them all balenced though.

my engine setup is going to be a bit diff to the normall. with higher rotation cam profiles and 9000 revs.

Could you use a T28 off an S14 200sx or a TD04 off a scooby? i know the starlet turbo (1.3 16v) owners switch to a TD04 when they want to break past the 180bhp barrier.

Most things seem to be covered already. You should be able to re-use your crank and rods, I would spend the money on the pistons, forged omegas or Accralites and they'll last forever (within reason!).

Clutch wise, pre verto setup with organic clutch plate and SINGLE Grey should easily be enough (the important part is getting it set up right to get max clamping load).

Turbo selection and cam choice combo is ware power is made or lost. Modern turbos are far more effiecient than older turbos so could be worth looking into the GT series instead of T series.

Mapped ignition is worth having, not a necessity but if you are lowering the compression then its makes loads of difference to how the car drives off boost, and cam almost illiminate any lag.

The most important part to remember, if you are looking for big power then a well positioned, efficient intercooler is really important. Lots of power to be gained with this alone. :genius:

enjoyable thread but out of interest to all you turbo nutters out there- whats your maintenance schedule like? how often to you get through clutches etc?

Just wondering as my 1380 needs nursing all the time with the power that produces, I dread to think what another 30-50 BHP does...!

Chap who started this thread- why not buy a decent boggo second hand turbo engine (if you can find one..) and go from there?

I would stay away from morspeed I went there for a rebore and a few bits and pieces. I had to threaten him in the end to get my engine back. And he is not very trueful with his stories either so I dout his car is producing the horse power he is claiming, as i bought some pistons from him I was thinking i was getting omegas and he sent me Hepolite pistons. so in my eyes he is a bad man.

I don't know what they're like now, but Morspeed used to have a good reputation for quality. Sadly, for the last year or so they've had a terrible reputation for being agonisingly slow and not answering the phone. There are plenty of posts on here about it and I hear exactly the same stories from countless people that aren't on TMF.

both too big imo, has anybody tried the GT25 off a mk1 Focus RS? lots of people junking these off for bigger turbo's and they should give a very driveable engine (boost at 3k?) with the ability to pull 300+
