RatPoo - you know you want to

Subframe out fit a new heal board - job done

When you restore him you could attach the new floor to the fitted healboard without having to remove the subframe again.

Nah!!

Theres no way I'm getting into removing the rear frame yet!!

He's on hydro still and touching the pipes is asking for trouble!!

Gonna 'repair' the heel board from inside and then chuck an oversill on. 6hrs max!!

Nothing like the smell of alchohol in the morning to let you know your hydro suspension has collapsed..! Don't blame you for not wanting to touch it.

I've been making good use of the forum downtime...

Poo is well on his way to an mot!!

Not taken many pictures but I have been busy!

First up, I did the welding to the heelboard and floor, all it is patched and plated, pretty rough but strong enough.

Cut 6" out of the rear of the sill to give access and then repaired and plated the rear floor and the sill.

Whilst removing the old metal I found this....

Hmmm!!

Anyway, this is what it looks like now.

Posted Image

I also had some help as well!!

Posted Image

That was last night, tonight I had a go at the brakes. Turns out the pivot on the clutch/brake pedal had siezed, what a pig!!

I spent 2hrs on it and nearly ended up pulling the pedal box, eventually it gave in and is now free. Once this was done I cleaned up and adjusted the rear brakes and handbrake. Both quadrants were siezed as well

Next up was the indicators, got one side working and just need to do the other now.

Jobs left are..

-Fit windscreen seal
-Check and adjust front brakes.
-Fit Stereo
-Service
-Get new rear tyres
-Give him a check over and make sure he's ok

Oh and then an MOT!!

Its gonna be tight but I think its do-able. I'll have a good few hours on him this weekend and then aim for the MOT on Tuesday.

Shifty its good to see you back working on this again. You have a very no nonsense approach. You get it done and don't waste time (like me). Enjoy having your helper. My 'wee girl' is 19 now and you wonder where the time has gone. But she's home for the summer and I'm enjoying that.

She does like to 'help' Daddy, and talks about the 'Poo-car'!! I'll have her welding before she's 10!!

I've been scraping minis through mot's for years, felt good using an oversill again!!

Its a thought!! I gave them to Arron though, it would finish his look off, perhaps a CB Ariel?

Nice to see such a swift return to road worthiness, good luck with the mot.

Its not the best repair in the world and was a bodge and scarper plate it up jobbie!! Looks ok though.

I had a quick 5 mins earlier, the non working left hand indicators were bugging me!!

Turns out the left hand front one was severely corroded, really corroded!!

I ripped it out and hey presto, the back one started up........Woo Hoo!!

So now that leaves me with a non functioning elf indicator, where am I gonna get one from at this late date???

(I have a plan, watch this space!!)
