But, since they were pouring fuel into the carb, wouldn't it still attempt to start up even if the fuel pump was crap? Maybe the carb needs a rebuild.

That's a good point. Not as daunting as it sounds. Of course it could still be a problem with distributor as if it tries to start but doesnt thats probably why, no?

try a new condensor and points. thats what my problem was check the points gap first, if they are closed up then re-do them and that should work.

Ok ill give it ago, i have a new condensor in the boot i think will probly break some thing fitting it knowing me

no, dont fit a condenser on its own, always replace points and condenser together! one will burn the other out otherwise!

Make sure you know what you're doing first, don't just jump in and do it as a distributor is expensive if you break something

Oooo and im getting my eyes tested tomorrow so i can see properly and so i will be able to read the lisence plates in my test
