After spending ALL morning pestering the passport office I have managed to get myself an appointment at 8.30am tomorrow in London. Hopefully they will be able to issue me one and I can somehow catch you guys up. I'm getting a lift to the Thurrock Travel Lodge later, so that it is easier to get to London in the morning.

I'm VERY stressed but hopefully things are looking up. I just hope that they will give it to me tomorrow and don't insist on posting it.

You'll be able to get a flight from London to Charleroi for a bit over £100 at short notice. I just checked and there are several flights from all the London airports with many different airlines between £120 and £150 economy.

fly to Koln/Bonn, its far easier to find and to get flights to.
Dont fly to Frankfurt / Hann its miles away and a bugger to find.

On another note they didn't even look at our passports the other week on the way out, although they were a little tougher in Dunkirk on the way back....

Been speaking to Laoni unless arrangements have changed she will be travelling up to Thurrock this evening, getting to London tomorrow (route sorted), picking up the passport (we won't say maybe!), train down to Dover, foot passenger or swim! I don't think Dave knows it yet but he might have to hang around the docks (!) to wait for Laoni's arrival.

I haven't heard anything back from Laoni saying otherwise but this was the latest plan. So fingers crossed for Laoni - all concentrate very hard at 8.30am Wednesday!

I think everything is sorted now and all it depends upon is whether or not the Passport Office want to be nice or not - so no doubt I will be out of luck

Well having been in a similar situation recently where my passport had expired...and I didn't realise until a week before my departure to Austria....I was faced with the same situation of having to arrange an appointment with the passport office to obtain a new passport.

They issued me with a new passport the same day but be warned it took 4 hours for them to sort it!!! Not what you probably wanted to hear.....

Hope all goes well tomorrow. Im sure it will - just tell them what its for, and if you get someone who happens to like Minis/Classic Cars it will surely work in your favour.

Failing that, if he says he has to post it, clonk him over the head and take it. And run fast.

12:00. Dave and his mates (yes he dose have some) set off for thurrock.7:00pm Hubby got home from work and set off with Laoni for thurrock and on to the passport office armed with every form of ID she could lay her hands on and lessons on how to cry and beg. The trip so far......Steves car turned into a piccaso due to a crack somewhere...Petes bike blew up and is on its way back to Cornwall with his Dad, petes been squeezed into another car... Dave broke down twice due to his wonderful engineering skills....Dilly reached temperaturs of 130 and dumped all her oil...shes been patched up and made it to Thurrock not long before Hubby and Laoni at 11:00pm.... Iwas crossing my fingers for Laoni but it sounds like they all need it.......Ooooh and i cant wait for Photos of what Stigs drving
