Okay I posted this recently, but I figured it worth posting here too: -

Well this message was posted by a member of my local Mini Club and it really made my day: -

Left work as normal today and modified Corsa tried pushing me along, driving way too close and flashing his lights.

So since I'm so considerate and helpful I applied my brakes and stopped the car in the middle of the road, to see if my fellow motorist had some urgent news for me....

We both got out of the cars and he started using some foul language towards me and my car, as I approached this foul mouthed yob he used some very descriptive words about what he was going to do to me.

He came towards me in an aggressive manner and tried to grab me, so I persuaded his arm behind his back and his head onto his bonnet and the best bit.....

Whilst he hurriedly tried to apologise to me I made him say 'I love your car' repeatedly telling him I can't hear you...

I let him go and he drove off calling me some more choice words...

Made me smile all the way home...

The Mini is a very nice Twin-Point Cooper and the yob must have been on drugs or something because 'Taff' the owner doesn't look like someone you'd want to mess with. LOL

So yes I imagine they expect a dwarf to get out of a Mini and get a real shock when it's not!

:shy:

I think girls are at less risk form idiot males as they'll feel less challenged. Being calm, polite, and rational usually reminds or shames people into behaving properly but always have your escape planned in case they turn out to be a total nutter. Their own car door makes an excellent weapon if things escalate and they haven't already got out of the car.

I have to disagree, on one particularly foggy morning ( not even able to see the curb on the far side of the road) i was driving through a small village, due to visibility, at 20mph, knowing there was a cream coloured bus somewhere in front of me, with various bus stops knocking about. I had a particularly angry man behind me trying to overtake on blind corners in, rather ridiculous amounts of fog.

As i left the village onto higher ground the fog cleared and speed limit went to 40 so i sped up, and he tried to overtake as i sped up and there was a bollard in the middle of the road blocking his path. at the next set of traffic lights he overtook dangerously, go out his car, hurled all sorts of abusive langue at me and rolled his sleaves up ( as if preparing to hit me) as he walking towards my car. only by me shouting back at him and the man in the car behind preparing for war, did he stop and get in his car. Only to set off, then do about 4 random emergency stops in front of me as if to try and make me run into the back of him.

I honestly belive that had i been a man, or had my brother or dad in the car with me he wouldnt have acted in such a way. and got an awful suprise when i actually stood up to him.

In my case they wouldn't be disapointed, as a dwarf would be getting out!!!

The problem is the average motorist is frustrated nowadays.

They always want to be going faster, because their boring shitbox is built for it.

But with modern day traffic calming measures and speed cameras, plus higher levels of traffic and traffic jams, it just all adds up to annoy the hell out of them.

Then they find themselves behind a classic Mini.

Now a Mini (to the average shitbox owning inbred moron) is just an old, slow and small annoyance that needs to be overtaken regardless of the risks.

But when they discover the ancient baby has surprising handling and performance and they find it's not an easy task to overtake, then their inbuilt Neanderthal instinct kicks in and violence is the only answer.

Sad but true, plus they feel like they've been castrated when their shown up by such a little car.

So just imagine them with fur skins and a club and put them in their place. Or better still pull over and let the twits go about their pathetic way.

Mmmmm!

I came into this thread thinking that it was going to be a rant about actual boobies and how you we're somehow distracted whilst driving by epic boobage. But no, its about some utter ******* who should be in a Zoo.

At least you and your fella are ok Hannioli because there are some crazies out there!

I have to disagree,

It is true that they soon recover their self control and social skills when it's overwhelmingly obvious that, if there is any violence, they will be the ones on the receiving end. I still think a woman has a better chance of avoiding being assaulted and, as in your own case, are more likely to have a 3rd party intervene. I do accept that there are idiots out there who will behave badly behind the wheel regardless. It's also quite possible that your particular knuckle dragger decided that, it's because you're a woman driver; you were unjustly impeding him on his way to that appointment with an early grave.

I adopt the let them go attitude.

I am now 43, I have had my rows, been irritated, got out of the car on a few occations and to be honest, now I cannot be bothered with them.

We all live here, we all handle life in our own way.

F~~k them I say!

I tend to just ignore other idiot drivers, if I didn't I'd have to stop at least 30 times every time I went for a drive in London! ^_^

Thanks Chunko :D

And I can imagine some cars do get annoyed with being behind a mini Taffy, but not on a 30 limit road (to be honest I'm almost constantly frustrated with the rubbish drivers out on todays roads who can't find their lane, don't know how big their car is and either speed and over take like idiots or who seem to drive at 20mph everywhere no matter the speed limit :P )

I agree with Ethel that girls are at less risk from these idiots in terms of actually confronting them. Luckily for Neil he's quite tall and well built, but I can imagine very well that if I was a guy of equivalent height and weight to what I am then if I did confront whoever, I would get the bejebus kicked out of me!

Well I was just pointing out what I think is true and to be honest if some pratt starts trying to push me along I automatically slow right down so that if I have to brake sharply, they'll hopefully do less damage.

Plus it teaches them a lesson. I think?

While I fully sympathise with Hanoli and agree with her actions I can see some other points of view here.

I drive a VERY fast car and it is a total wind up when you get stuck behind someone that wants to do 40 down the open road. Now, while I don't go harassing grannies to get out of my way I have been known to harass others who insist on hogging the road in front. All I ask is that those of you who quite reasonably want to bumble about do the decent thing and let those of us who have somewhere to be or that drive sports cars get by. If you are in no hurry then surely the couple of seconds it adds to your journey to pull over a little is of no consequence to you. The biggest problem in this country on the roads is the p**s poor driving standards and the almost total lack of courtesy shown by drivers!

And before the flaming starts I don't speed through towns etc. I participate in road rallies and drive a 160 mph (on private roads only) car, have a 145bhp bike and possess a full clean licence after a good few years and many many spirited miles of driving. The speed limits on some of our roads are a joke considering the performance of modern cars, or even cars 14 years old like my GT4.

I mean no offence to anyone by this, I'm just asking for people to show some consideration for other road users as if we all did this all the time everything would flow and there would be less accidents and frayed tempers! It's just like the t*ts that keep braking on motorways. Thus causing tailbacks and accidents in there wake that they are not even aware of!

Er, rant over! ^_^

I totally agree with you on showing consideration to others on the road, I may only have a 1275cc mini but I often find I am wanting to overtake people be it in town, on a roads or on the motorway. No, it isn't hard for drivers to pull over, but often there isn't anywhere to pull over or these people are doing the speed limit and you just want to go faster, it's not always feasible to actually pull over.

And Taffy, if you're driving along roads a lot under the speed limit then I would want to over take you and to be honest going to slow can be a hazard in itself for other road users and it causes congestion! If you do however, drive at the speed limit then I have no argument with what you said.

Trust me, I always do the speed limits and perhaps a little over if it's safe to do so.

But it plays on my tits when I'm doing a little over the speed limit (like doing 35mph or 40mph if I'm feeling really reckless) on a winding country road that is clearly marked at 30mph, to then get some ^_^ on my tail trying to push me along faster.

I don't want to get a speeding ticket (the particular road in question does have a mobile detector van present on occasions) and I'm always careful. I'll probably get a bashing for admitting to doing 40mph, but as part of it is uphill, my Mini is far happier travelling at 40mph in 4th than at 30mph.

So I don't drive like someone grandad, quite the opposite in the Mini in fact. But I still want to keep my licence nice and clean and save getting nasty fines.

Sorry!

So I really don't give a flying frigg for sports car drivers.

And if you wonder why the car in front is going so slow and decelerating, it's because their not happy with having you parked up their back side!

Road is full of ^_^ these days,

I had a weird experience with a moped owner this week.

Me and gf leaving her house and hes right up my arse, on a downhill stretch, and when i mean right up there i mean if i braked hard his face would be hitting my window pretty quickly, so i crawled down to 20mph till he got the message to back off, then he pulled out to over take and i put my foot down ( in 3rd at 20mph so not much torque / acceleration going on ) so he was forced behind me.

He backed off after that, until the next long road where again he tried to over take, wrong side of the road oncoming traffic not 100 yards away i again accelerated forcing him behind me, he made the 'waht the hell you playing at' girlfriend gave him a swift 'apple off' and flipped him the birdy haha.

When we slowed down to pass a congested bit he nipped infront and tailgated a van, to be honest i was hoping the van would slam his brakes and we could see this fat chav eat effectively a metal wall and then laugh at him.

I was also kinda hoping he'd stop and notion me to pull over, i may drive a small car, but its decieving, i'm 6'5 and last time some kids kicked something underneath my car i skidded to a stop and got out, all of the little :xxx:s ran off.

Prick. I hate stupid drivers.

On a side note just got back from going out to lunch, and i saw a saxo with a wheel that was very ready to fall off, it was wobbling horrendously!

Well a week or so back I was racing a motorbike across the mountains here.

I spotted this motorbike closing on me fast and I just booted it. It was only for a small stretch of mountain road, but it was also the very twisty part and so the biker had a bit of a job trying to keep up.

Once we got on to the straight I had had my fun and I didn't want to reach dangerous speeds and so I just backed off and then he flew past.

No road rage, nothing, just an adrenalin rush and that was all.

Plus there's no speed cameras on top of that mountain anyway.
