its not the people who drive at say 30 in a 60 zone ^_^ true! they annoy me to hell, but at least if there going slow you are still usualy left with enough gearing for you to pull out and accelerate to such a speed suitable to overtake and be in within time for the upcoming corner, where as people going say 45 in a 60 means you have to have a longer stretch of road and accelerate considerably more to accelerate round them :mrcool: its a pain in the arse!

But if your doing the speed limit (or a little over) and you get some ^_^ up your rear end, that just takes the *yellow human water*.

Tailgaters are really starting to *yellow human water* me off at the minute and this is in my battered old Renault 19.

I fact its getting so bad that the other day this guy was so close up my ass i had my hand on the hand brake ready to yank it up and wait for him to plough into the back of me. My car is only worth about £200 so i really couldnt give a *rubbish* and maybe a nice hike in his insurance premium next year would make him think twice about doing it again. (Did also consider a nice payout for whip lash as well! :D )

Then of course my lazy side cut in and and i thought can i really be arsed with the hassle. Answer no? >_<

Trust me, I always do the speed limits and perhaps a little over if it's safe to do so.

But it plays on my tits when I'm doing a little over the speed limit (like doing 35mph or 40mph if I'm feeling really reckless) on a winding country road that is clearly marked at 30mph, to then get some >_< on my tail trying to push me along faster.

Most winding country roads have 60mph limits last time I checked!

So I really don't give a flying frigg for sports car drivers.

Yes, and that's exactly the sort of lack of consideration to other road users that causes problems. Do you own the road then or do you just object to people who drive faster than you?

And if you wonder why the car in front is going so slow and decelerating, it's because their not happy with having you parked up their back side!

See above!

As I said quite clearly, I don't object to you driving slowly at all. It is your right unless you cause an obstruction which you are not supposed to do (see highway code on that one). Why should you object to me wanting to get past you? Again, all I ask is that others show some road manners!

I show plenty of road manners, I keep to within or very close to the speed limits.

So why should I show any manners to someone who is stuck up my rear end?

Sorry but there have been far too many crashes where Minis have been struck from behind and I don't want to add to the statistics, so if somebody can't be bothered to give a little room between me and him, then I'll just slow down to what is a safe speed should they slam into the back of me for not paying enough attention.

to be honest I've only done that once in the passed umpteen years, so it doesn't really happen often and I love nothing better than flooring it and seeing those behind trying to keep up with an elderly Mini.

But what can you do, Minis bring the inner young hooligan out in me. Not that I do anything dangerous, no, I have fun legally!

>_<

Well the one close to my home has houses running close by and street lamps and it's just a short by-pass which is clearly marked up as 30mph. There's a similar road not that far away which is 40mph and that has a fixed speed camera at one straight section. Now I could do 60mph if I wanted, but no I want to keep my licence clean and I don't want to have to pay speeding fines either just because some muppet with a penis extension of a car thinks he's above the law!

Yes, and that's exactly the sort of lack of consideration to other road users that causes problems. Do you own the road then or do you just object to people who drive faster than you?

I've already pointed out the fact that I'm no road hog and I'm far more happier and courteous behind the wheel of the Mini than in the family MPV.

But it still plays on my tits when other road users who obviously believe that they own the road, try to push me along faster than the speed limit. If they want to get past, then fine go right ahead, just stay away from my bumper.

See above!

Ditto!

I don't drive slowly unless someone is driving dangerously close behind me and tailgating is also against the law and maybe you need to check the highway code on that point?

to be honest I don't want anyone who drives badly sitting behind me, so the sooner they overtake and apple off the better! So it's not me who needs to show any road manners, it's the muppets with the penis extensions who have the problem and not me!

Its not just other drivers, there seems to be an epidemic of idiot pedestrians around as well.

I was road testing a work vehicle today, turning left from a main shopping road into a minor side road. I see these 2 blokes step of the curb and start to cross the road. They obiously hadn't seen me, so I slowed down to let them cross, although it was my green. One of them then suddenly stops in the middle of the road and starts trying to open his can of Special Bew. So now I'm thinking "errr hello, your in the middle of a feckin road here mate". Anyways, I roll foward very slowly until I'm about 1 foot away from him and he's still standing there trying to open his can. By this time I was getting a bit annoyed so go to give him a toot of the old horn. The look on the mans face when the twin air horns went off and he droped his can of drink was priceless, he lept around to be confrunted by me in a 15ton double-decker bus waving at him and I think he might have had a pant accident. I mean how do you not notice a vehicle that size sneeking up on you >_<

I might download the cctv and put it on you-tube :D

I watched a lad get run over today, completely his own fault as he stepped out into a busy road, he was hurt but alive and taken away in an ambulance. It's not just cars who are idiots on the road, the car driver who hit the lad didn't have any time to react, must be really awful for him.

I could argue this further but what's the point. You are the one who advocates poor driving, not me. I try to be courteous on the roads as much as possible and don't tailgate unless trying to get past someone who thinks it is clever to obstruct the highway, and when I try to get past I usually succeed! I don't hit people from behind and I have seen little to suggest that this is a common occurrence on the open road, more likely an event that happens in town in dense traffic!

Talking to you is pointless as you obviously have a chip on your shoulder about faster cars and faster or better drivers than yourself! Oh, and my willy is just fine without any extension required thank you. Some of us compete and drive fast cars because we like them not because we are inadequate. Do you insult all the Z cars drivers as well, or is it just small car syndrome?

A couple of years ago I owned a stage one RSP Cooper, driving to work at 5.30 in the morning I noticed a mk5 escort tailgating me on a 60mph road so when the road drops to a 30 I slows right down to about 25, this nob decides to pss me then slow down and starts throwing thinks out of his sunroof (kids toys, tapes cd's) the lot! Iam at this point laghing like feck at this.
So he then pulls over and expects some 18 year old kid to get out of the mini so he can abuse them, and when he looks there I am, a thirty something goatee wearing biker, 15 stone of idiot with a neck the same size as my head (ok...... no neck :-) then he says your lucky I don't give you a clip and gets in his car and speeds off. I standing there going cummon then! and he's gone.

Intimidation don't really work when the other person ain't what you were expecting does it?

Brightened up my day anyway. I have since seen this bloke out and he was as embarrassed as hell and wanted the ground to swallow him.

I agree with Juju on this. There isn't a need for you both to have a go at each other or if you want to do it then do it in your own time and space please.

I don't agree with Taffy on the way that he says he drives at times but I also don't agree with some things Stronteum has said, but whatever. You both have opinions, leave them at that and no more arguing please! :-

Fair enough, I'll just be the bigger man and walk away.

But I don't have any kind of chip on my shoulder. No, I just have a nice clean driving licence, I've been driving for almost 25 years and I don't need some jumped up kid telling me how to drive.

That's fine by me. As I said to start with, it is not my intention to offend. I would merely like to express an opinion from the other side of the fence to some on here. It is road courtesy to ALL road users that I would seek to promote (even plastic pig drivers and people on mopeds!)

And Taffy, as to being a jumped up kid, I have held a full UK car driving licence for 26 years and have been driving for 28. I also hold a licence for motorcycles and all the bits the kids don't get any more. I compete in road rally were we have to have special insurance to race on the road in Police notified events. The rules I have to follow are even more stringent than you have to follow when not racing and are martialed to make sure that we all comply. People get disqualified for anything even bordering on dangerous driving! Please don't be offended or think I am a new driver trying to teach granny how to suck on eggs and I certainly won't be sat on anyone's bumper driving through town!
