I pose a more relevent question...where does the "white" go when the snow melts?

Snow is a whole bunch of individual ice crystals arranged together. When a light photon enters a layer of snow, it goes through an ice crystal on the top, which changes its direction slightly and sends it on to a new ice crystal, which does the same thing. Basically, all the crystals bounce the light all around so that it comes right back out of the snow pile. It does the same thing to all the different light frequencies, so all colours of light are bounced back out. The "colour" of all the frequencies in the visible spectrum combined in equal measure is white, so this is the colour we see in snow, while it's not the colour we see in the individual ice crystals that form snow.

Umm..I was kind of kidding with the question. I knew about the color...however it was very well explained anyway. Cheers.

I think the technical term is a bolt gun :P

But if they are not to be turned into food of one sort or another they are euthenased (sp) via an injection.

I'm not being morbid, my wife owns a horse and isa vet nurse so i get to hear all sorts that they have to do at her surgery :errr: and I normally get told whilst we have dinner :)

Would they be injected? Surely as this travels through the blood stream it effectively "contaminates" the meat thus rendering the offal useless? And I'm sure defra being well defra would just skip the beast?

I work in the meat industry and with the larger beasts they have a bolt through the skull as they are too thick to withstand the electric foreps which the pigs get and then the rest of the process begins, so would a horse be killed in the same way as poleaxing is now banned.

I guess that's kinda similar to Polar bears, as their fur is transparent.

As above really. Me and my mates are racking our brains but cant think of anything lol

just to probably end this big debate, in answer to your question, horse meat doesnt have a specific name, just horse, it would be how its "cut" i woudl presume that would give its name.

House is actually quite nice!

Its tastes a little like beef, but has the texture of chicken.

Yes, I've tried horse...

I've also had:

Squirrel
Phasent
Kangaroo
Deer
Rabbit
Hare
Pigeon

Few others, but can't think what right now...

Try aligator, it's yummy!

No it isn't, if you see a polar bear in a grey environment it's still white.
