How'd you make the seats the look cool don't cover them

Used 4 lengths of 1" x 1/4" high tensile steel strip, heated and bent them to the EXACT contour/ curvature of my back and drilled holes every 8cm along each strip.

Measured some 40mm x 20mm pine and cut, rounded and drilled each one so they gradually taper from top to bottom.

Bolted each one to frame with stainless coach bolts and nylocs.

The 'seats' bolt into the original captive nuts on front floor crossmember and hang over a twin tubed 'subframe' at the top which is joined onto each of the 2 side rollcage front legs....

EASY ;D

Oh..... and the seatcovers are only for driving, at shows etc, they are removed to sit on outside!

Nice, but is it low enuf.......

Too bloody right it is, top mini

Low enough? No, not really......

I measured another shell and reckon I could get another 4 1/2 to 5" out of another.......

....and make it still driveable (ish)

Maybe one more project soon?????

Don't know- it'll be done when it's done. Not going to hurry it for any show in particular. I was only doing it for my pleasure. May do a few local shows when I'm finished. When I get fed up with it, I just stick the cover on it and get on with another project- although, to be fair, I've stuck at it this time longer than I have in recent years (I started it in '99 !!!!)

Now collecting beer and cider bottle tops for a 'buttoned and cushioned' headlining. O_O Attached File  Picture.jpg   169.27K   19 downloads

Been collecting them for a week or so.... lucky my mates and fb friends are all alcys, so I've got well over 200 already....

But if you guys want to help out (especially drinkers of foreign or unusual beers) then feel welcome to PM me and I'll give you my address. Anyone working in a pub/ bar could help me out big time :D

Cheers (and 'bottoms up!! ;D )

Righto,

Let's get up the workshop and hit this paintwork HARD, t's not going to do itself and to be honest the enthusiasm for wooden paint is ebbing..... Could've prepped and resprayed the car 3 or 4 times so far, for the length of time it's taking me...

Don't want to get bored of it (like I usually do) and abandon project for the next few years.....

Wish me luck..... I'm going in......

Only just looked at this, it is awesome mate. It's not often you see something completely different and done in a proper quality way. It will be amazing when its finished.

S-L-O-W-L-Y    S-L-O-W-L-Y,  Monkey nearly caught :gimme:

Today's paint session so far....

Although with the temperature as it is, that'll probably do for today.

Front end grained and 1st coat of sealer....Attached File  Picture 118.jpg   164.3K   41 downloads

Front arches after 4 coats. Happy with results. Attached File  Picture 116.jpg   166.69K   32 downloads

Close up. Attached File  Picture 117.jpg   155.64K   41 downloads

4 coats later on front end. Attached File  Picture 119.jpg   167.23K   42 downloads

Bolting bits back on. Attached File  Picture 120.jpg   162.69K   79 downloads

More or less finished. Attached File  Picture 121.jpg   168.53K   71 downloads

Safe back in workshop, indicator left off 'because I c*cked up and left of some tongue and groove lines. Valance still to paint. Attached File  Picture 122.jpg   165.07K   54 downloads

Now need to do the last door and 'even' up the tones of the wood by single or double coating some of the body.
