Update for you all….

So I carried on stripping Ralph and just kept finding more and more rust.. feking mini

On my tiny wage, I cant afford that much bodywork so I set to work finding a decent local shell… easier said then done

Opposite my girlfriends house I found one for sale (about half an hour drive) so I went and had a gander.. what a load of crap

….. To cut a long story short, I bought a 1993 Rio shell (with logbook) from Wells, Somerset.

He is in overall good condition and I’m pleased.. He will benefit from new inner and outer sills but meh, a lot better than Ralph.

So here are all the pictures for you lovely people:

MEET BARNABY

As he came (with a few spares)

He’s off the trailer so I’ll get more pictures tomorrow

Thank you to Padnic for supplying the shell

family, mates, people at work :/
but cheers mate :D

I can't see anything wrong. I'd personally do it in a different order, and do welding before paint prep, but it aint exactly a biggie is it lol Restored parts look nice too

I would do it that way too, but because the car is in a garage I'm not legally aloud to use the grinder or welder until I'm 16.. and I can't wait until February to start the car so part work it is :D
Wow you guys have weird safety rules over there... When I was at high school in 2002 I was 13 and we were able to use welders, grinders, lathes!

Followed!

Just starting mine and might just end up also being done on a student budget...

But I'm in South Africa where stuff isn't as accessible but not impossible.

Keen to see how you progress, already gotted down your idea of sanding before replacing panels so I know whats actually going on.

Quick q, are you sanding everything by hand? O_O

good little project.

Just hope barnaby is as good as he looks and that you don't end up finding as much rust but in different places.

Good luck with this mate
