Hiya Everyone Been reading everyone's project pages Its about time I created a page for our project My son Jack has wanted a Mini since he was about 5 in 2009 we sourced one in need of some work At the time we decided that we will do most of the work together as something we can both learn from. I have never welded before, something I was keen to have a go at. The Mini we won via ebay was located in North Wales Early one Sunday morning we made the trip to bring the Mini home. IsMDjTS.jpg Rcjwc3P.jpg MA2xkdt.jpg Once on the drive, the fun started removing everything, we tried to bag & label as much up as we could Yes, of course we found a few holes fVRg9Qr.jpg And yes, it had over sills WTWoQ2z.jpg Engine & Gearbox came out I3BY4Kk.jpg More bits were chopped off HbKv66g.jpg 51Gn0C6.jpg At this point we decided to get it sandblasted A few more pictures of the condition of the shell dePfGXu.jpg zC7WnG2.jpg nHGnwEw.jpg KzKVr52.jpg sxVOs7v.jpg So we tried to remove as much rust & panels that were going to be replaced as possible More pics to come

Hi. Welcome to mini ownership! Looks like a great little project. I like the colour of it. What's the plans for it? It's amazing how they still hold together with all that rust! My mini was the same (and it had an mot!)
Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming..

Plans were

Colour Change - Jack has always wanted (yea you guessed it) a red Mini with a white roof

Keep it pretty much standard (Keep Mr Insurance Man happy)

Try to make it as good as I possibly can, I hope this is something that Jack will keep.

Just as a note

The pictures I've posted are from about 3 years ago when we started the project

We are very near the start of putting everything back together

I will let the pictures do the talking

And so off it went for sandblasting

While it was away, a new Garage was built

So as they say, Let the cutting & welding start

Just as soon as I learn how to do it......

The plan was to start on the under side, where I could practise welding.

And then work my way forward, leaving any bits that would be seen till later

Front end, what a horrible job

c0Hj8Yo.jpg

Clamp everything in place, check, move, clamp, check, move,

J2IfYHP.jpg

The front wings were clamped in place for a day, then moved into place a little more, clamp them wait & move.

Boot fitment, Got it somewhere, then changed to chrome hinges & had to do it all again..

Mini outside for some sunshine

Jack wouldn't make brummm brummm noises tho.

Jack wants the holes for number plate blocking up

There are a few bits of perforated metal where its rusted, chop these out & put some new in

We have been doing this for the last 4 years

I never got round to starting a project thread as we were doing it
