Off I go again fitting a seven port head but with a bit of a difference. Having finally got a day off from the mad world of coach driving I decided to set to and make a start. After my usual bout of prevarication I hauled me tool box out and rolled the Min out from under its shelter. Bonnet up and off we go. Rocker box off first, no bother. Then I disconnected the manifolds and got the carb off complete on its mani, no bother. Next up was the head - my god the nuts had been tightened by a gorilla using a a 6 foot breaker bar! I couldn`t shift the buggers, what to use? Inspiration - my torque wrench is a good length and might do the trick. I got a result this time, I sheered my socket adaptor in two!!! Back to the breaker bar but without any extensions and I finally managed to creak the nuts undone, but it took all my weight and such energy as I possess. Off came the head and showed fairly clean pistons and bores in good nick, phew! The pushrods puzzled me because quite a few were rusty!!! Next up I took the rad out because I got a new ally one to go in, followed by the water pump as I bought a new one with no by-pass. The kit comes with s a short fan belt so as to get the alternator low down to clear the carbs so I would have had to fiddle with this end anyway. Time is running out now so I put the water pump in, pulley and fan on followed by the belt which I adjusted and then put me tools away. Here`s some pics of progress.
