1275 engine (1994) and SU HS4 carb all installed last week and I’m having trouble keeping my car alive.

After about 35 seconds or so the car dies, irrespective if she’s running lean or rich.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

if needed I have a video that I can throw up somewhere to show you guys what going on and maybe you could confirm my set up it all correct.

The video would help.  Could be flooding or fuel starvation due to float chamber problems.

Hi morris13

I've just had similar problems but mine struggled to start. Once started, it did exactly as your's seems to be doing. I ended up spraying some carb cleaner, with the straw attached, down the jet hole from inside the carb and it looks like there may have been some crud restricting fuel flow. Obviously had to clean the float bowl out afterwards but now starts and runs.

Also, check for air leaks. I found I had a slight leak around the butterfly spindle on one side but I don't think this shouldn't stop it from running, just make it difficult to get it running smoothly.

I hope this helps and good luck.

had a similar issue mine and my problem turned out to be the carb wasnt tightened to the manifold enough. i replaced the gaskets and got new screws to tighten it fully and have no more issues. maybe worth a check
