Here’s what I came up with...
For the actual steady I decided to use a Specialist Components rose joint solid type.

I got busy making the second bracket and forgot to take pics, but you can kinda see it in the pic below. Basically the plate bridges over the manifold and has a 90 degree angle on it to meet the steady, Its strengthened using a triangle piece across the 90 degree and is held on with two manifold bolts.

Nice and neat, small and alot less messing around to get it on and off when needed.
