Hi guys, want to keep a diary of the swap somewhere, and thought here would be a good place for it.

Here's the mini...

and here's the engine...

Put 2 and 2 together and...Voila!...

...Ha I wish it was as simple (cheap) as that lol.

Still need a few bits to finish the motor off, but the basis is there.

I bought the motor second hand but didn't know the exact spec. Had it for a few months and it was only Saturday when I took it apart to find out what it was.

Turns out it's a MED short engine with the following...

- MED 84mm crank (has had work done but not sure what) gives me 1430(ish)cc
- Vandervall bearings (like new)
- 286 cam
- Omega 73.5mm pistons
- Belt drive kit
- S rods

Just been tarting it up for now, paint, cleaning etc.

Still need a head, weber, roller rockers and few other bits to finish it off (so WINK WINK if anyone has anything kicking around LOL). Plan is to bang some new rings and shells in it, drop it in and see what happens!

Thanks fella!

I'm looking for a racing head of some description, but can't afford to buy new lol.

The rims are 10x7 force racing wheels. They are destined for my other mini tho, only got them fitted till I can afford to get my special wheels split.

Looks like Rims are fitted 'beside' 8,4" calipers..do they have a massive offset or you just used massive spacers? Hows the handling with those wheels?

Thanks Rick!

Not quite, the brakes are 7.9 alloy 4 pots. I had to use clip on wheel weights as the stick on ones fouled the caliper! no spacers

Despite being on standard suspension, it sticks like s**t to a blanket. The steering is suprisingly light as well, i'm running 28 psi front and back. But I guess the 998 hasn't really got enough minerals to really test the handling at speed.

Hi dude, it's a race can off a motorbike (not the loudest as i've got a cherry bomb in the centre pipe, but thinking of taking it out).

The lack of chrome on this car is great, nice to see something a bit different. Good luck with engine swap :)

Cheers matey, i've since fitted black door handles and boot lock (will hopefully find a way of coating the lock barrels in black soon). The mini special wheels will be OEW (black nuts and rim bolts). I want to paint the exhaust as well but I keep getting told to leave it.

I've also fitted rear poly carb windows and black door cards. Started on the bulkhead box for the weber.

But I just missed out on a race head on the 'bay (by a fiver!!!!), gutted! >_<

Had an itchy pair of hands last night so we did this... (big cheers to Kris and George)

Also gutted the engine bay. Everything in there is going either matt black or white lol. Just need to remove the master cylinders. by the way, the subframe is out as well it's only in on the tower bolts for ease of movement. It will be going off for blasting and coating shortly.

Polycarb windows, cheers to ACW MOTORSPORT PLASTICS lol.

And an "arty" one
