As some of you will know, I've been mini-less for the last year or so whilst I've been in a year's work placement at Toyota head office...so they gave me a car!!
Now I've left and am going back to uni for my last year I've bought another mini....moving up in the world, this is a 1993 1275 Sprite.
His name is Leeroy and he's only done 58,000 miles!!
Bought from new by an old man, he drove him for 5 years before getting too old and ill to drive, he handed the car down to his son who has driven him for the last 10 years. Unfortunately, father died a few months ago and the son is now sorting through his stuff, selling the house, car etc.
So that's how I ended up with Leeroy, his MOT runs out in March and he is 100% completely standard. It was even ordered from new with no radio!!!!
Here are some pictures:

So the plans:
Well, I have a centre console to go straight in...that will house a stereo with some speakers in the rear parcel shelf!
The catalytic convertor is hanging so low it scraps on every bump...and guess what? I have speed bumps down my road!!!! Therefore I'm gonna fit a stage 1 kit, get rid of the cat, I've found out I don't need it because it runs on a carb!
Really fancy some 12x6 revolutions, silver rim with black spokes! Think that'll look sweet with the black paint job. Now I just need to decide what arches to go over the top....any help?
Also, thinking about taking the Sprite stickers off, the pink isn't really rocking my world!!!
So what do you think? I'll add more photos as I go along, the stereo is pretty much there now so will keep you updated!!
Thanks
Jamie

I've got a sprite as well, started off standard like yours (but blue) but now looks quite different ! The decals should come off easy with the aid of a hairdrier, that was the first thing I did to mine.
Mine now looks like this

I've just won some group 2 arches on Ebay and a side exit RC40 system with manifold....now just need the inlet manifold and a needle for the carb! Already have a cone air filter!
May try the hair dryer trick in a bit......

Love the roof rack
Cheers, it's a great addition...not one I can hold my hand up to putting on though!
I did consider just leaving the bars on and keeping my surf board on there permanently...minis look so cool with surf boards on!!!

Good progress in the last month, so far I have:
- Changed spark plugs
- Changed oil and filter
- Wired in stereo and put speakers in the rear parcel shelf...stereo has a handy ipod plug so can control ipod from stereo!!
- Put in centre console to house stereo, makes a big difference to the interior actually!!!
- Installed stage 1 kit!
At the moment it's still running quite rough, I'm waiting for a friend to give me a K+N cone filter, at the moment still running the original air filter, so it's running too rich! Once I've got that I may try to get it rolling roaded, get teh most from the kit! Looks good though!
Only problem is the exhaust is blowing from the manifold to where it meets the Y piece on one of the pipes.....lots more exhaust paste me thinks!!!
Money's a bit tight at the moment....i hate being a student!! haha so no big mods at the moment....I need a new grille so that's first on the list..have one in mind!
I should be getting quite a hefty tax return in the next month or so....so possible plan is to get the rust done...as much as I would love to spend it on wheels and other bits, i think it's best to be sensible!
I'm going to need 2 wings, possibly a front panel and more than likely the scuttle panel....I know I'm looking at quite a lot, but anyone care to guess how much a bodyshop may charge?
I know pictures will help for all I've said in this post so once the car is clean (hopefully tomorrow) I shall get some updated pics up for you!!
Thanks
Jamie

I've kept all the standard exhaust parts JUST in case the MOT is done by someone who doesn't recognise this....but pretty confident it should be correct!
To be honest, the CAT doesn't do anything to a car running carbs anyway so shouldn't matter!

I thought the rule with cat's is the year of the car? Not wether it runs carbs or injection?
No.
There is no law whatsoever that states a car has to have a CAT fitted. The law is that the said car must pass the emissions test that it is subject to... how you get it to pass is entirely up to you.
It would however be difficult to get an injection engine through the test without a CAT, however... the Landrover boys manage it

Took him out to Mudeford Keys this morning in the rain, unfortunately to wet to get any pictures but did notice that the blowing is getting worse from the manifold even though I whacked a load of exhaust paste on it yesterday afternoon....hmm me thinks I may have to take everything off from bottom of manifold back, try to get a better, seal tight connection....I love having to do jobs twice!! haha!

The seats are just the standard grey Sprite seats, nice and comfy though!
Thanks
