Does it not recognise yours then?

on 2 local ish motorfactors its not recognised, but on the one it is you go though all the menus to find no parts available.
Or in the case of Halfords I go to the selection of parts I'm after and then wants to search using the reg.

But the parts I'm after are universal and non standard for mine anyway. I just didn't want to have to spend half a day doing a lap of Mk because one motorfactors cheaper or doesn't have anything. I think I'll just stick with pot luck on eBay.

Why would the oil light be on dim (or just barely noticeable) whenever the lights are on?

Probably stick out at the bottom slightly.

spot on, although with being rather too gappy along the rear quarter as well. Still I'm going to be sore in the morning finishing up welding and re-skinning a door with a cold.

So much for powdercoating, my powdercoated pressed steel front grill is already bleeding rust.

Ive never been impressed with powder coat
when it chips the water sits behind it rusting
Jan 31 2016 08:07 PM -

it has chipped though. I had the grill stripped, blasted, powder coated and then painted. but that still hasn't stopped it bleeding rust along all the edges and corners.

Spent nearly 3 hours drilling out the seized in screws just so I could remove the cracked/faded plastic arches.

Been there before haha, 453 drill bits later :P

I had to do that on mine a while back, the drill ended up slipping and going through the 1/4 panel as it turned out to be made of filler :D
Jan 28 2016 06:11 PM -

it's not what I was expecting to be honest and have seriously gone off rivnuts.
One of my quarter panels is also full of filler (one of the reasons to removing the arch) but that's because the wheel arch/quarter panel seam has been pushed in creasing the quarter panel. I bodged it with filler a few years back and want to fix it properly, as it's bugged me ever since.

Overheard a neighbour ranting that the alarm on the mini scared his dog off (walks it off a lead to run free and **** where it likes) but what the ******* fails to realise. My alarm wouldn’t being going off if someone (you can guess who) didn’t go around trying to open (deliberately left unlocked) the boot of the mini to nick tools and stuff from within, which also happens to be empty.

I would get some good quality CCTV then. It's only a matter of time.

I don't think he'd be trying to nick stuff from the boot of the mini again in hurry, as I don't think he was expecting it to have any sort of alarm fitted.

As it turns out nitro engines don't tend to like running submerged in water

I don't have any different rate springs for my shocks, only the threaded adjusters and if I try to stiffen the springs they just turn into pogo sticks.
I might see if I can buy a another set of shocks as a kit with a few sets of springs etc.

Different shock oil?
Sep 27 2015 03:50 PM -

well so far I've just increased the camber slightly all round, moved the shock positions and softened the shocks in the hope it rolls more before diffing in and flipping over. just have to wait for the guys flying their planes to see if it works

I’m sure I’ve seen some somewhere, but does anyone know where I could get hold of some waterproof rubber relay covers?

Is neoprene/epdm foam flammable? But thinking about it you don’t see many people in wetsuits spontaneously combusting.

it is generally flame retardant, probably melt first
Sep 18 2015 05:11 PM -
1984mini25
so it might just be suitable for use under the bonnet, as I'm looking for something that won't end up acting like a giant sponge with condensation.
Sep 18 2015 05:54 PM -
Steve220
It has a low melting temp. Wouldn't risk it.
