Been painting the hall today. Had a patch that kept coming up darker than the rest. Thought it was the remnants of an old damp patch. Gave it 3 coats and then the sun went in and I realised it was a b****y shadow!!

Neither has keeping to left hand lanes when slower than other traffic - constantly come up behind slow cars and vans in a right hand lane then other drivers undertake to pass

Four of us (and meeting up with another two friends who live in Phoenix). We're spending Christmas Day in a log cabin at the Grand Canyon and then wander back up to San Francisco for New Year. So looking forward to it.

Does anyone make a decent alloy wheel brush? Second one I've bought and I might as well be using a metal file with a Brillo on it.

It's a bit embarrassing when you offer a visitor your biscuit barrel and they pull out the one you took a huge bite out of earlier and then put back because you didn't actually want it.

Yeah, have a Bongo. It's old, tatty and done 160,000 miles but it's just fantastic sleeping on the roof.

Generally, how long do tyres last? Not talking about wear - the rubber in general. How long can they stay on a car before they should be replaced?

I think it's also dependant on how it's stored. If it's in rain etc then not as long as in a dry garage. Also if it's got any weight on it while flat.

Manufacturers recommend 6 years. I'd say longer if it's been kept in a warm, dark room
