So, all of my lights on Violet work when the fuses have been removed....the plot thickens.

the back of it (the circuit board thing at the back of the clocks) isn't very nice to look at - a few of them have burnt out and arent connected anymore, one being my dash light one :(

You can replace just the circuit board. You don't need to replace the whole set of clocks.
Not the cheapest option but an option http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Mini-printed-circuit-board-for-2-3-clock-dashes-/140993935976?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20d3e4ba68#ht_604wt_1161
The ciruit board on the clocks in my other mini did the same and I just soldered wires across the broken bits. Worth a go. If you screw it up you will just have to replac...

Broken shocks wouldn't cause a mini to sit lopsided. They don't support any of the vehicles weight. Assuming your tyres are all pumped up then I would inspect all your knuckles and then next would be the rubber cones.

Rotor arm decided to break = super glue and tape to get me home 20 miles. What even

Impressive! Did you keep to low rpm too or were you driving normally?

Low rpm when ever I could, seem to be having mixture problems as well. So will get it sorted tonight (hopefully)

Still just as impressive! I've broken two on my other car, due to the distributor shaft developing play and the arm hitting the cap :(

Pretty good I think. Its my first year sprinting and I'm only 5 seconds behind my dad who has been doing it for 7 years. We were double driving his car which was good, apart from I can't get used to his clutch (cerametallic clutch) which has a very binary on/off feel, which I find incredibly hard to get off the line quickly

That's something you'll either pick up or won't haha. Off to a good start though, gratz.

That sinking feeling after hours of sanding down to bare metal. One last small section against the wheel opening rim...and find another complete bodge of a fix. Ugh.

Artful Dodger
quick really stupid question - the a series rotates clockwise when looking at the engine from the crankshaft pulley no1 cylinder side..?

-
IainStallard
Yup, I'm a moron! You were right all along! Means I turned my engine over the wrong way when I did my valve clearances :/ crap!

saalright, me and my dad had half an hour of feeling ' ******** have we timed the cam in wrong.. nooo!!' and between him and me theres 50 years of motorsport and garage experience.. everyones a thicko at one point! :P oh well! as long as it was around 15 thou when the right valve was compressed then it should be fine:)
Sep 14 2013 05:42 PM -
IainStallard
Yup, and plugs were out so there'd be no compression to damage anything anyway :P
