and our survey says................................. PASS!! :dance so Pootle is back legal again Wasn't a smooth day though, the gearbox bolts Vauxhall got where the wrong ones (but found some suitable one in stock) so headed over early with Owen to the retest. Just as well, 1/2 way there the exhaust fell off :doh The nut on the centre mount had work off and one of the joints (even though it was all 2 1/2" system parts from Merlin) was a bit of a lose fit. Luckily some one living near by lent us an adjustable spanner and we limped there and back to the MOT station. Back at the lock-up i replaced the nut we bodged on to get us going with a nice nyloc (should stay on this time) and went round all the clamps and did them up FT. But will prob put a bead of weld on the joint tomorrow for peace of mind.
So to celebrate, i gave pootle a wash and fitted his combe sticker
Pics of the progress from the last few days
Nice shiny knob :lol;
reworked dash
A washed pootle

After the was, he was a bit hesitant the 1st time to start, but fire up 2nd go.
so, tax disc tomorrow and prep for Sat

Today, tax disc purchased and fitted (nearly forgot to get it out of the cooper before leaving :doh ), then went to move Pootle and he wouldn't start no fuel in the tank seemed to be the prob. but we cracked on and got the pads swapped over for Mintex 1144's (i had managed to todge the road ones when trying to get rid of any contamination yesterday) and put some weld on the exhaust joints to try and make sure that there isn't any more issues there
Went and got 20 ltrs of juice and filled up Pootles tank, fired up first turn of the key so moved him out the way while we worked on Jack.
Loaded him up with stuff for tomorrow, went to leave and he wouldn't start again popped the bonnet, had a poke around the sensors but couldn't see a problem, re-routed the wire to the airflow meter as it was a bit under pressure from the speedo cable and he fired back up? So headed home, fairly steady as need to bed the pads in, but he drove very well. only needed to put the rad fan on when in slow traffic or stopped and a couple of corners i was able to give him some beans around, he seemed to handled well. Got home and stopped at the petrol station just down the road from my house to top up the tank, only got 5 ltrs in before it clicked, so not sure whats going on there? but pootle fired up 1st time (bit reluctant, but fired up) and put him away for the night.
hopefully he will start ok all day tomorrow at combe, will be out at 9:15 and 2:00 (hopefully )

That'll be Gaz's 1293 spamspeed stg4 power clubby with my old 45 on it that was flying yesterday
Well, we made it out and back home in one piece Out on the 9:15 and the 2pm sessions, 1st session was a quiet one with TerryG passing me on the 1st run up to Quarry (that car has some grunt) and i spent the rest of the session behind him getting used to the power and handling (plus the new brakes ). What took a few laps to really sink in was that the power drops off above 5500 RPM and shifting up was required (hadn't really noticed in 1-3rd on the road, but 4th and 5th it is quite noticable). The only really problem was that the temp sender wire came off 1/2 way through, but carried on regardless
2nd session was much more fun, out with some quick mini's (spent the session keeping up with the black pro-motive FWD R1 powered 1275GT) and was really able to push Pootle. The brakes still aren't amazing, but where up to the job, and the only traction issues was out of the 2 chicanes (no probs out of Quarry, foot in the carpet in 4th) with no torque steer to report back either.
Any way, the in car footage from the 2pm session (look out for my G force meter )
