Why is this guy getting slated so much. He's just having a bit of fun. It seems to me that are a few self righteous hypocrites passing judgment here, everybody including this guy and probably my gran know that mini's are not fast, safe etc... He's not saying he owns a super quick car, just trying to share his driving experience with other enthusiasts. Instead he's either getting mocked by some 'know it all' or getting lectured on mini safety by some anorak. In the end, it all depends on whose driving the car. And, you can drive fast and safe at the same time. It's just there are a lot of idiots out there who can't. As long as you keep your distance and watch other drivers, that's the main thing. I reckon just about most modern cars are faster than my mini, but for character, class, patriotism, fun, handling and looks the mini kills most things on the road - including some UGLY boring impreza - and its 50 years old.

"Hello new visitors to the site. Welcome to TMF. This is where we all bicker like little children and brag about driving like a wally on public roads!!!"

This thread is hardly going to draw in new visitors who may just have found the site for the first time! ;)

i think thats what most people are getting at. if he did manage to keep up with an sti, the sti was 99% likely not giving it any stick, regardless of whose driving. so thats like saying i kept up with a veyron on my bike.

but others also make the point its not a great idea to go bragging on a public forum about keeping up with a car to 90mph on public roads, despite the fact most of us have done it. ive got nothing against the guy having lots of fun in his min. as everyones said thats what theyre all about, so good on him for driving it and not keeping it in a garage for 90% of its life.

i also think impreza's are nice looking too...and i would say, always sound better than mini's no matter whats in them.

i was on my way back from work once in my rally car and was driving down this little country road i know well and i was giving it a good seeing to as i alwasy do in my rally car and an aston martin overtook me, iv still no doubt what so ever that he wasnt booting it because i didnt hear an extream change in exhaust pitch....saying that, im sure mines more scarey to drive, it chose to torque steer more than usual that day so i was staying in the middle of the road so i didnt hit a tree hahaha then flat out through a dip in the road (my old civic used to bottom out with suspension compression and it was standard) round a nice uphil left to a long sweeping right where you hammer on the brakes before a junction....aston was no where to be seen lol

So when somebody takes that attitude and runs you or your family down at 90 mph, its still ok??

Anybody that condones excessive speeding on public roads is a fool, and to do 90 on what I assume is an A road or even a B road ismakes you an absolute muppet IMO.

When you've seen somebody run over at 70mph it does make you abit more responsible on the roads. Or when you've had to climb into somebody's overturned car to cut them out because some stupid immature boy racer has lost control at high speed and hit them, it makes you wish people like you and 1380whatever his name is were never licenced to drive!!

Yes, everybody has broken the speed limit at times but to then brag about it on a public forum is completely irresponsible!

For all you know, somebody could have lost their Mum or dad, brother or sister to a speeding motorist!

I think this topic should be closed and removed personally.

For those of you who say Subaru's are slow and boring, yes they are fairly slow and yes they are pretty boring, but there are some of us more mature people on here that don't look at every road as a racetrack or every other motorist as competition.

I think its about time some of you grew up and looked at the bigger picture rather than only caring for yourselves and your own safety.
