I just feel some people are sl*gging the mini off, we are all here to love and cherish the mini, so lets not squobble over petty things, lets rejoice and enjoy a true british bit of beef, the MINI!

sorry dan, I will just open this topic again for a quick moan lol.

Give the lad a break, if he wants to race then let him. I raced a bugati veyron, and started to leave him past 240mph, so he could probably keep up with a standard sti.

There is no point posting videos of a scooby racing a mini and saying, look scoobys are faster than minis, because it depends on what mods each car has done to them. That impreza in the video had a GT28 turbo on, and thats a big turbo. If you could bolt that on a mini, it probably wouldn't be able to spin the turbines. An impreza with that spec is obviously going to beat a mini.

I think there is a MR2 forum on the internet, so go join that.

:D

Just to open it up again. No matter what you are up against. I cant really think of a car i have more fun in.
From what i have been told scoobies are boring to drive. Fast yes. Fun no. Same with evo's.
Does anyone know a truly fun car. I havn't had a go in a caterham or an atom put im pretty sure they would be fun too.

scoobies aren't as fast as people think. When you put your foot down, they go, but they are so flat they don't put you back in the seat much.
Evo's are more fun, because when you plant it in one of those, you struggle to breathe because the accaleration hurts your chest. My brothers got an 8. He has had it played around with by a tuning company, and i drove it and couldn't believe how quick it was. It is fun to drive, but its always in the back of your mind, that if you are going fast enough to lose it, then the car would probably be written off.
Minis are so fun to drive because they are so low to the ground and loud, its great fun.

And the guy with the MR2, why are you on here if you don't have a mini?

He had one 5 years ago. Did you not read the other equally pathetic post about 'If you don't have a Mini why are you here'?

thanks Jo, very close, i had my mini up until a couple of months ago that i'd owned for the past five years.

i want to clear up that i'm not having a pop at minis, i mean come this was my mini, i spent thousands of pounds and fu#k knows how many hours turning it from scrap car to track car.

christ have a look at my 'about me' page, i still want to buy another mini ffs so i'm not having a pop at them, just saying that modern cars will always have an edge one way or another over a 50 year old designed car with it's original mid tuned a-series, lets be honest over a certain bhp they torque steer like a right pig where as a modern car doesn't (unless of course you tune it to and obscene amount of power)

No I didn't, I'm here to talk about minis, not chat sh*t about them.

see above ^ not talking sh#t, not slagging off.

fine i'll give him a break, but i hate reading how people talk about booting it on the roads against modern cars saying yeah i was right up his chuff or whatever, because that aggrovates me and i believe in putting your car on a track to do that not the frigging road.

posting that video was to balance up the 'mini beats bigger cars factor' proving my point that modern cars still can beat tuned a-series minis. So sod it, i'm dropping out of this arguement now, i'm all up for cheering a mini on to beat other cars but i still maintain that modern cars will have an edge in some way.

thanks for the advice, but i won't join an MR2 forum, because i've had a browse on there and it's the same problem there too people boasting about how their stock n/a MR2 can beat a F430 it's bollo#ks.

The kid who started this thread has been slated for something he never actually said. He never said he "beat" the Scooby, he said he kept up with it, and, in his opinion, embarassed the Scooby owner. I think he was being light-hearted and people just laid into him, especially Mr MR2. Subarus are boring, they're everywhere, even Chavs can afford them now. Lay off him! Minis rule!

You're always going to have people boasting and talking ******* on owners forums. I take it with a pinch of salt if they're actually being serious. EVERYONE has been guilty of speeding or driving a bit too fast on the roads so moaning about people doing it isn't going to make any difference, is it?

Its the same on nearly all forums, people with 500hp, 600hp, 700hp+ Evos look down their noses to owners of less power cars, and boast about how much money they have spent, and how they have got all the best bits. You can never get away from it, so we will all just have to live with it.

it wouldn't make a difference, any fast modern car especially an impreza with rally pedigree would still beat a mini on a bumpy back road

Not if it couldn't fit!!!

don't be silly, even back roads are wide enough for modern cars. think about it, all manners of agricultural vehicles use them

It was a joke, mate!
"width of your average garden path?"

HAHAHAHA looks like he just took you right up the ..... Garden path

good one DJH hahahaha o dear.

im with 1380davis he may have kept up with him as many of us have in the past not only is it a match against cars its also drivers and that make more difference than raw power and the size of your balls!. Any way racing is for the tracks not roads and as 1987 parklane says "we are all here to love and cherish the mini, so lets not squobble over petty things, lets rejoice and enjoy a true british bit of beef, the MINI! "

Being lucky enough to have driven many high perfomance cars including a WRC rally prepped subaru i still prefrer driving our wonderfull mini!.

i took on a wrx pqrsti once in my mini with a worked 1380, weber, cam etc

mine sounded better. thats about the extent of it really. but he was too far ahead to hear it.

boasting about thinking you beat an <insert fast car here> in a mini is pointless... and even if you did, you're probably the only person who cares. we all know what our little cars are capable of, and that is why we drive them!

just 30 minutes ago i took my 1293 for a spin along some country roads, hilly and twisty.. and i feel like yeh I'm hammering along, flying.. look in my rear view mirror - an mx5 (miata) just cruising along, keeping up no sweat. look at my speedo, only going 40mph!!

but who had the bigger smile?
