I do target shooting with my air rifles/pistols.
Clay pigeon shooting with my Remington.
Rat Shooting with my 410
And rough shooting with my 20 bore and remington 1100

Rough shooting includes shooting foxes, rabbits, pigeon and anything else that can be legally shot at that time of year :P

I was in the Rifle & Pistol Club for a number of years at Imperial College. It was fun shooting at targets & I found it challenging (especially trying to fish hot cartridges out of my cleavage before they scarred me).

Then the Dunblane Massacre happened in 1996.

It suddenly wasn't fun for me anymore & I could no longer justify going near a gun as a "hobby". I haven't touched one since.

Shooting animals outside of pest-control or food-provision is completely beyond my understanding.

i can see where your coming from juju. im glad we have tight gun laws here so there aren't too many loonies with guns.

that said i do enjoy a bit of a shoot with the bf's guns when we go camping.

i have shot slug guns, shot guns and rifles, but don't ask me the brands!
i have also had a bit of a go at clay target shooting.

it's all a bit of fun if you are careful.

I agree with that, which is why I only shoot animals for pest-control and food-provision >_<

Mmm you'd be surpirsed actually at how easy it is to obtain my gun. For me to get my license the Firearms Department from my local police station came round, asked me a few questions about safety that anyone with common sense would know the answer to, had to show him my gun cabinet, and then I was issued with a shotgun certificate. This allows me to own a gun at 15 that has been given as a present and buy a gun and cartdirges at 17. I beleive this is correct.??

Shotgun is easyer to obtain than a rifle, no idea why to be honest they should both be the same, although i think for a shotgun "sport" is a valid reason to own one, where as a rifle, it has to be pest control, or target shooting there again there are many regulations in the uk that make no sense.

For me, I mainly shot metal drop down targets, but now and then, the odd bunny, or pigeon...
This time of year, controling rabbits is advised to stop mixy running wild >_<

maybe its because a rifle has a larger range, and dose damage consistent in one point, where as a shotgun spreads its load, so the further away the less chance of major injury but thats a guess.
