im just getting into the target shooting etc world.

this weekend i passed my NSRA tutor/RO qualification, so i can take my scouts shooting, and also at camps etc i can run a range yay

am looking for some advice.

i was using lots of break barrels, some side cocking, a single cocking pneumatic, and a PCP AA S200 Sporter.

now the AA Sporter was the best rifle i used, dues to the lack of recoil etc so im looking at getting a full pneumatic one.

so was wondering if anyone has any recomendations???

cheers

Wow, this thread was resurrected from the dead! I suppose I will add my 2 cents, "A society with guns is a peaceful society". I'm pretty glad our Gun laws in the states aren't too strict. That being said, I don't own any air guns...I used to have a couple but I grew out of them and joined the Army. During my service in the US Army I fired an M16A2 pretty much everyday for 3 months, fired an AT4 a few times, threw about a million training grenades and two real ones, fired about 500 rounds of 7.62mm through an M60 Machine Gun (the intensity of this thing made my eyes and heart rattle around....), set off a couple claymore mines, shot a couple of clips through an M9 pistol, got some pretty extensive bayonet training and finally learned about a few other US weapons.

My inventory of personal weapons is kind of small but I will buy more once I get back home. I own a Marlin 22LR, Winchester 22LR, Western Field Lever action 30/30, Remington 870 Express shotgun, and a Bushmaster Superlight carbine Assault Rifle....I also own 3 Diablo Wrath paintball markers and an AR1 paintball marker. Future plans include a good high powered deer rifle, a Bushmaster 50 cal Sniper Rifle, night vision scope, a Taurus 9mm Pistol, an AK47, and a pimped out Ruger 10/22.....I was also thinking of building a Gatling gun from two Ruger 10/22s with the kit you can buy from Cabelas. I've got some other plans too....I like firearms, good to have around. I will grab a nice crossbow sometime as well.

started off with a old webley hawk mk11 air rifle (.22) got know by the family as the 'mixy stalker' ;) as the majority i shot were unfortuanly poor wabbits, when i did get a good one the occasional rabbit stew went down well :xxx: .

went to cadets fired the usual cadet rifle (single shot SA80) and on camp in wales was using the LSW,had a go on a stirling sub machine gun (9mm) and used to compete in the shooting comps using the lee enfield converted to 22L

few years back the old man bought me a Baikel (russian) 12g over and under to go rough shooting be it a hare ,rabbit squirrel fox or rat with wings.nothing beats sitting in a hide draped in camo on a frozen morning with a flask of tea patiently waiting for woody's to come in on the decoys :D better than shooting clay's IMHO

I have enjoyed air guns ever since i was 10.They have improved so much. The CO2 are great.Started with a small childrens 177 riffle. When having been tought that i was bought a BSA Mercury 22 air riffle, great old sprung gun with the oiled stock no varnish.Kept that years. Then bought The fixed barrel BSA 22 great power for another sprung gun. After years of target fun moved to pistols started with the pump Crossman a great cheap air pistol you can pump it a couple of times and even play in the house or 20 times outside,a great value for money to .Wore 2 out and bought 2 CO2 Crossmen pistols they are single shot and powered to the top of law. They are much cheaper and better than many pistols.Bought one for one of my mature mates for covering his garden carp. The next one being as the factory based in birmingham Brocock .By going straight to them i saved about £200.You do have to have a ticket to buy one. They changed the law in the UK so you must have a ticket even that they only fire pellets. Most mature people love them because they are a real quality gun and fire like a fire arm hence the new law.Great training and cheap to use.I always look for value and quality on things i buy and spend a lot of time first. If you take my advice and buy a Crossman you will be happy.Remember to learn the new UK laws first even in your own back garden you could end up with the law i did the armed police clossing the road, a bit much there was no pellets in the house let alone in the air gun i was cleaning it and some W walked past and said they saw a gun through my clossed windows, they still took it and refused to return it.Worst bit my friend was a carpenter and made the stocks to fit my hand they would not even return them when i called the station saying got a brand new one and wanted my grips back.I told the next doors must have been a gas leak. There is a very good gun shop here in Solihull about 2 miles from centre if travelling its 1 mile of the coventry road not far from the solihull rover plant. Some travel miles to it.The Internet can not sell you much by law.

That was yesterdays work.. Nuff said! (oh I totally agree about shooting for food, these little bunnies will keep my brother in food for the week at his uni flat, those which he doesn't want the pub buy them off me for £2.50 so not 1 bunny is wasted)

Edit: Forgot to add, due to current circumstances I am selling my air rifle.. it is an: Air Arms S410 mk2, with all of the bits and bobs you will need. It took me ages to find this one as it is a left handed stock and left handed bolt action. If anyone is interested then let me know!

my grandad used to work for a rifle makers in birmingham when he was in his late teens im sure it was webley and scott come to think of it.

hes got a break barrel rifle from his days there, it was one that should have been broken down and "recycled" as it was over powered, but this was like 50years ago!

ive got a crossman ratcatcher, used it mainly for targets in the garden and the odd squirrel (my grandad had loads living in his loft and the council wouldnt sort it, as he was too old to get up there and tidy it before they come out :( )

dont really use it anymore!

Howdie all anyone else out there into the age old art of shooting? I'm just starting out (on an air rifle atm), woundered if any other mini owners participate in such a grand sport be it pest control, or target shooting.

Well, I shoot at rabbits and cats which dig and poo in my garden... air rifle....I've only ever got one rabbit but I keep trying....
