Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Right well little progress was made yesterday really, just finished stripping down the front subframe again and then finished painting up the hubs and steering arms. Then I remembered I need to grind down the steering arms abit, so will do that and touch the paint up again.

Ive decided against getting the MED clutch package to use on the current engine as it would be a waste of quality engineering, so just going for a fast road pre-verto setup for the time being till I build a new engine when this one is one the road. If anyone has a pre-verto flywheel lying around give me a PM :D

Went to Himley today, decided against getting another set of tyres for my other alloys as ive already got one set and the money was better served elsewhere.

So what did I get today....lots to keep me busy, thats for sure

and an MPI Heater :withstupid: Its also got the hoses to accompany it.

Ive still got to get the 7.5" disc shields and fuel pump kit which im phoning Minisport about tomorrow. I'll also be getting a quickrack from Moss as they sell them cheaper than Minisport plus I get a discount there.

A very good day all in all!

I got it for £100, I know there was one on ebay for £95 incl postage but I'd rather pay the extra and be able to see the condition before buying plus with the hoses I thought it was quite a steal really. It really does look like new

Those rear trunnions look sexy!!

Yeh they look the mutts nuts. Wasnt planning on buying these cause I was planning on just keeping the rear subby in place but I forgot I need to change the bushes, so there was no excuse not to really!

I have a brand new external release cooper grille for sale now ive got my internal one. £25.00 (there £35.00+ from suppliers) If anyone is interested give me a PM.

Amazing project mate, looks like some serious time and effort being put into what looks like very sweet build!
just read the project from start to finish and definitely loving everything you've done!
What interior you going for? style, colour etc?
Keep up the good work, Dave

Cheers Dave, much appreciated.

Interior is ordered, just got to pay for the rest of it. It will be black leather mk2 reclining seat (bucket style) with off white detail to match the body colour and matching rear seat. Also an off white perforated headlining. Should look good.

Got a delivery off Minisport today which consisted of a Solid State 'Fast Road' Fuel Pump Kit to accompany the King Regulator I bought at Himley and a pair of 7.5" disc shields which will be getting powdercoated red, although I have to get the little brackets for them.

Hopefully have a good update next weekend but this weekend is dedicated to revision unfortunetely.

Best drag this back up from page 11!

Been busy with other things recently so the project was put on the back burner but never forgotten. Got my spreadsheet of parts required to finish the build so I know what's needed.

Spent the last 2 evenings going to the garage after work so I can get some work done on it, first evening I realised I needed knuckle joints even though I got a top notch suspension package from Minispares which I thought had everything in it! So got as far as painting some suspension components and putting some polybushes on and that was it.

Today I got the knuckle joints from Moss (excellent service) and ended up getting some 'cooper s' steering arms after being convinced they were needed. Sprayed the steering arms black and now i've built up one side of the front subframe after figuring out how to again with the suspension cone, hilo, knuckle joint and rebuilt top arm.

Will go to the garage tomorrow to do a bit more and take some pictures.

Thanks for looking.

Need to consider what im going to do regards getting the engine in because when I connect up the hubs with the drive shafts its going to restrict the pot joints, anyone's thoughts on this?

Ordered some parts from Moss today which consisted of;
-Quickrack
-Plastic Headlamp Bowls
-Alloy Headlamp Rims (which I'm rather looking forward to seeing)
- and the little brackets which hold the discs backplates on

That little lot should be in Moss by Friday.

Thanks for looking.

So today we basically decided to put the front subframe to the side so we can build back up engine, nothing exciting unfortunately, just putting back together the gearbox and block with a pre-verto clutch. Figured that this minor build would be good practice to how the pre-verto clutch went together with the OBP pedal box. In the future the plan is to build a new engine whilst this engine is running :withstupid:

The block is going to be black with a red cylinder head and clutch housing (cause it keeps corroding). How does that sound?

Will be picking the parts up from Moss tomorrow.

Got my parts from Moss today, unfortunately the full order wasn't there but got the bowls and the quickrack.

I fitted the quickrack this evening which is the first part to go on the mini! I've also scraped off most of the old gasket from the timing cover and gave it a good wire brushing and gunking. Should hopefully be able to do a bit more tomorrow day and finally get the engine sprayed.

Alright mate, when you come to put the engine in, undo the top ball joint on one of the hubs, and then just eeease the whole thing away from the car a bit, should give you enough room to jiggle the engine into place :D

At the time of putting mine in, i didn't know this, and just got the shafts in the joints with brute force and ignorance lol, so yours shouldn't be too bad, good luck!

Haven't looked at this thread in a while, i must admit, nice to see it still going, Chris!

Cheers, Paul.

Thanks Paul much appreciated.

Been working on the engine for the past couple of weeks, just parts that I need that keep slowing me down as I can't do anything till I get it! The engine is now painted, together and the clutch has been converted to a pre-verto with a pre-engaged starter which involved changing the ring gear. So now the engine is ready to sit in the subframe and then rest of it can be built up and attached to the mini!

The pot joints/hubs aren't an issue with mine Paul as its just being built up from scratch, so the engine and driveshafts will be attached before the hubs are attached.

Will get some pictures up tomorrow as I keep forgetting the camera but I'm down there tomorrow so will get some.

Nice one, need some pics though!

Got any specs for the engine?? I'm hoping to get some tasty bits for mine at MITP, because the standard 1275 with the HIF38 carb is pretty pants...

Looking forward to some more updates!

Cheers, Paul.

Where on earth did you find that Pirelli banner? And which companies did you email to get the stickers? I'd love some of that stuff for my garage!
