Quick Update;

The engine is now apart from the old subframe and we've near enough stripped the old subframe of all the bits we needed. The engine was blooming heavy and we were working near the shelves so moved the subframe back, good job we did or we wouldnt have noticed the bottom engine steady, that would have been awkward if we'd found out mid lift :D

My stuff has arrived from minisport so thats at the garage now.

Next jobs are going to be refurbishing the parts we are going to reuse and cut the frontend off :mmkay: as im not spending anymore money (unless its to refurbish parts) on the mini as i now have to save up for the spray and the odd bits of welding required for the flip which is going to ace :lol:

Will get some pics on saturday when im down there, can't wait till it gets lighter in the nights so i can do some after work during the week :gimme:

Went down to Finnesse Auto Bodies this morning in Hazel Grove, nice bunch of people, asked them for a quote for a full bare shell spray thinking they would give me a rough price on the spot and they said they would be be happy to come down on Sunday (day of rest apparently) to give me a accurate quote, with the extras i want regarding the frontend :D Well chuffed :)

Got to decide on the paint i want now; im thinking Old English White with Black Arches (W+P) and Roof with VIP paint, nice detail I saw on Jordies mini :)

What do you think?

Bit of an update;

Had Finesse Auto Bodies down at the garage today give me a quote on te spray and the plan is so far is;

Cut the front end off and sort the front flip with brace bars and lining it up with the subframe.
Weld up a few minor holes so its completely water tight including the air vents.
Get the POR15 off the bottom of the floor as they've advised that 3 cars they've done (2 being their own) over time it rusts and the car is no better off. Rust Bullet they've advised.
Get the shell rolling as they have a frame where it can basically be sprayed with no weight on the body.
Spray Old English White with gloss black roof and arches with the black being cover in VIP paint :)
Stone Chip underneath, then sprayed with Old English White.

Gonna have a price back to me by tomorrow as for the works that are required they couldnt provide a quote on the spot. Told them they could have the shell as long as they wished as it will free space up in the garage whilst i revamp stuff.

Looking good so far but i'll see if im still standing tomorrow :) definetely gonna be sat down when they tell me the price just in case :D

Cheers

Chris

Well whats its been, just over a week since i said that :lol: Very rare what i bought though, so i couldnt resist! Mum very kindly picked them up for me today whilst i was at work :)

Was well chuffed when i got these!!!!!!!! What do you reckon?

Also placed an order with minispares which has arrived (forgot to get pics before my dad wrapped them to the max in bubblewrap and taped them up though) as it was a few bits i needed for refurbing and for the bodywork when the spraying does happen, this included;

Compression Tool
4 seam cover (2 rear and 2 front)
Seam Clips
Brace Bars
Centre Speedo Cable (got it whilst i thought of it)

Will now be saving for the spray as ive now got a figure to aim for to have a completely mint shell with all the body mods im wanting :)

Over the weekend im going to finish stripping the old subby of the front cones (hence compression tool) and look at refurbing the rear subby. Reason for this is that i need to get the shell rolling for the spray as they have a special frame which will basically put no weight on the shell whilst they spray.

Lots of saving to do now, so no need to rush cleaning parts up etc. which is nice but still i so badly want a sprayed shell :ermm: Even when i do have the money they reckon it will be in for 3+ months, atleast the garage will be empty for a bit ^_^

Update!!!

Hey Everyone

Got some cleaning parts to crack on with refursbishing parts

Posted Image

First of all though had a play with a few bits :wub:

Tanks placed in, looking good ;)
Posted Image

Acquired another fire extinguisher from work :P
Posted Image

Now I started with refurbishing the rear subby by first stripping it and then applying gunk everywhere possible on it which helped get all crap off
Posted Image

Then i wire brushed it which took forvever but was well worth the effort, mainly used wire brush attachments on a drill
Posted Image

And finally sanded it down to clean it all up and get most of it back to bare metal
Posted Image

Now i need to get it covered in rust bullet and then clean up all the suspension components and powder coat them red :) will look ace i think, thoughts?

Got bored another weekend and after a few bad reports on the bitumen/sound deadening on the floor that they hold water and weighs a lot etc. I decided to chip away at it and get rid in which i will use another material in place of it when I get round to it.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Finished all the floor since then but still need to do the bit on the back bench and then I will scrape away at the bits that couldnt be chipped off, in which what i started doing was brushing on gunk then get a scraper and go over the floor panels, much easier than wire brushing.

So at the weekend jobs are finish sound deadening and then strip off POR15 which I not looking forward to but has to be done none the less :)

Thats it for now, feedback please :thumbsup:

Chris :ermm:

Great looking project so far dude, cant wait to see more progress with the subby, you've done a nice job with it so far!
Like your little garage too, cozy little setup with that iron heater lol.

Pardon me for being stupid, but what the hell is VIP paint? Is it ACTUALLY very important person paint? As in the fake tan stuff they cover celebs in? hehe ;) :D
