Yeah I was going to get the machinest to do it while skimming the block.. But with that head and flat top pistons, I think it will high enough as it is :). If I mess it up then that will teach me. Have been doing my homework on how to do it, but I doubt it will be perfect!
Fingers crossed!

How are you going to do it? With a milling machine? Let us know how it goes because it might be able to save me some money when it comes do doing mine. I need mine bored, skimmed and pocketed.

Yeah it should go well for a std 850 eh Sean
No I don't want a corsa lol! Although for how much ive spent on the engine alone I probley could have got a decent spec one

Parklane; I'm going to take the exhaust valve of then place it roughly on the block then draw round it as a template then Ill use a bench drill to cut them roughly 4-5mm deep, then maybe finish it off with the dremel if they look a little odd.

Also just brought some isky-type cam followers, + getting a braided oil pipe in a couple of days..

Will give MED a ring tomorrow to discuss about the crank and rods to see what they say,
idealy id like the crank to be - Wedged & balanced. & The Rods to just be Lightend. this should take more than enough meat off both of them for what I need.

cheers

Thanks Mark, Havent made anymore progress ;) been so busy & havent had the money to get the crank and rods done, although after there done it should be more or less ready to bolt back together. Getting a quote from Wolfy for the crank and rods tomorrow, hopefully he'll do me a good price (nudge nudge)

Heres a few piccies anyway, any excuse eh

MED Race Spec dizzy without vac, fitted with leccy pack, should work well.

Are you using pressed rockers on your new engine?

Yeah, was thinking of 1.5ratio rockers but heard they will be a bit ott for a 998, and can take longer to come on cam(?)

Phoned up MED about the crank & rods on friday, will be having them to the spec i wanted above on std bearing size, agreed on a price of £200 inc p&p, which I think is pretty good as I was expecting it to be more, so sould be sending them off on tue/wed and will get them back in roughly 2/3 weeks time. May also get there light weight 'S' damper kit aswell or I could just stick with one off a 1275.. hmm decisions decisions :P

Yes MED are very good, might start to use them as they are local, I'm coming closer to that stage of deciding about all the options for my engine.

Not really sure mate, Going on the rollers with South Central on the 25th April, But if I did beat a 1380.. i'd be over the moon (doubt it though) what you think? http://www.theminifo...p;#entry1300039

Okay, got the crank and rods bubble wrapped up in a decent size'd box today, & will be sending them off tomorrow. Hopefully ill be just in time with MED as they do a batch of 25 each time.. and they said they have 22 ready, so hopefully ill be in time or ill have to wait a about century for them to get them done :mmkay:. Or is this just a sales trick? (lol) :D

Pete.
