Thought id update it a little.. decided I wont be having a 998 anymore.... but a 1061cc!! (not a 1071, but pretty close lol!) using +80 mega type flat tops from Minispares, with the extra cc's it should be a little more torquey to!, they don't cost the earth either so with the tmf+ discount it should be a affordable price, hopefully getting them order'd next week. payday tomorrow yippee. so can get the block bored by the machinest while at work getting another k-series head skimmed (nothing unsual about that! gotta love 'em though :D)

Also got the crank and rods sent off last monday go MED. changed my mind again and had the crank wedged & backdrilled not wedged due to the counterbalance.. after they come back in a couple of weeks it can be started to put bacK togheter as I now have most of the parts.. apart from a couple of gaskets and some s/c drops!! swiftunes do looks loveelyy with the r/b fitted already in the idler so would be a little quiter to, have to see how it goes :D

Brought a couple of bits to, but nothing too exciting

ARP bolts, swifty rocker shaft, centre main strap machined, lightend dizzy dog, oil pump, windage tray from paul wigginton, and some new VP2 bearings for mains & bigends, deffinatly needed repacing, the mains where totally knackerd!! but then at 6500rpm in second gear every sunday what do you expect! :(

Left the memory card at the workshop so only got these for now, doh!

^ he probably wants a quicker revving engine, i'm guessing, as the 1098 adds 100cc of stroke. torque also though.

If i had a 1098 block outside i would have used the 1098 and saved up for some +60 omeags from swiftune... hmmm . although as Canadian says I did also want a quick revving engine, should be able to reach 7k no probs... (that wil impress the girls for sure!)

Got the pistons yesterday from MS! look & feel very well made, about 1/2 an inch taller than the standard ones and slightly heavier.. need to get it bored out still, ill get some pics tomorrow of what else ive been up to. hopefully getting some s/c 1:1 drop from min-its in a couple of weeks. does feel like a cheque book build though..

Looks nice Petey!!

Just noticed your centre main strap, has it been milled totally flat?(because it shouldn't have)

It looks very similar to a block I bought a bit ago, the lugs that hold the thrust brgs had been machined off and the thrust wasn't located properly.

Worth checking.
