The point that has seemd to have been missed is that there is a lot of show cages out there fitted just with bolts in the rear arches which i would not like to be in when it rips free out of the arches and come crashing down on your skull in the event of a front end smash.
Modify your mini but do it in a safe way and dont drive like you might flip it!

It also never fails to surprise me just how many people have bucket seats and harnessess and arent strapped into them properly. For harnesses to be effective, they have to be a lot tighter than most people imagine. Fine in a race car, but 100% impractical in a road car. strapping yourself PROPERLY into bucket seats drastically reduces your ability to see around you for navigating junctions etc. Loose-fitting harnesses are incredibly dangerous, and will injure you a lot worse than a normal recoil seatbelt would have done.
Have a look on BriSkoda forums for the pics of the guy with his nut-sack ripped open and his spuds dangling in the breeze to highlight the dangers of improperly used harnesses.

But bearing in mind if you do happen to roll your car and you have a six point with buckets and harnesses, you aren't going to smack your head if your strapped i properly. I know that when I drive I tighten my harnesses right up so I can hardly move. I've seen alot of people that just clip their harness on and thats it without tightening it at all which is fairly pointless really and proves your point BUT if you are strapped in correctly you shouldn't come out or smack your head in the event of a roll.
I have a six point and I know I'll be keeping it in.

iv seen that picture. its FOUL. hence im actually never going near harnesses. It never fails to surprise me, just how many people think some pipe-lagging will save thier brains from being spilt when they bang their head on roll-cage bars at 70mph. Proper FIA approved padding is expensive for a reason, and even it itsnt going to be a lot of use unless you are wearing a good helmet too.

I always feel much more secure strapped into my buckets with 4 point harnesses, or in my friends metro with GTI seats and 4 point harnesses. Much safer in my oppinion. But the range of visibility is dramatically reduced, but you get used to it.
