..the neverending fight beetween mini and bini owners..lol
by the way i dont think a bini cooper s engine modded to 300bhp can last more than 3k miles..

Check out MiniTorque.com for an insight into 300 horsepower New MINIs and their reliability.

here's an idea of what a highly modded Cooper S can do:

Ok that run is with NOS, but that's on *melon* tyres.

I think it is a very good idea.
I am putting a '04 bini S drivetrain and suspension in a '67 ADO16 (the young sister)
I am even considering putting the new interior in Rustle.
I think v-tec mini's are now the norm (although still very cool).
I believe my Austin 1100 Mk1 4dr. with a beeni drivetrain will be a standout/steadfast family cruiser.
Looks like a long project, working on the custom aluminium tube frame for the body to sit on.
I am expecting a long job. If you are too, put a bad ass bini in it.
There are kits for v-tecs, much easier conversion, much more standard.
I think it is a very good idea.

i dnt really want to make offense to anyone, but i've been in a cooper S that had a bit of kick to it but i've been in a few more 1.6s that have a bit more without the Scharger. im no expert on the mod of an engine conversion but would u be puttin the electric PS in there as well cause i dnt no if its jst me but that noise is very annoying.

This thread just keeps going, I'm very proud of what I started. And after all this debate, no-one has changed their mind.

Do you have a build thread? I'm interested to see how this works out.

I'd say that referring to someone a 'child' is a personal insult, wouldn't you?

I too would like to see a build thread of someone putting a BMW mini engine into a classic mini. Would make a great read

So would I...... if anyone want to do it and would like some fabricated or machined parts then give me a call, PM etc.

The later gearboxes have good ratios that will suit the Classic a lot better than Vtec's or Astra lumps do

Hang on if I am correct he is talking about the Crysler engine or is he on about the BMW engine? If its out of the earlier modles then there is your answer iits pooh! If its out of a later modle then its down to cost. Two reasons why it has not been done yet.

But thats not to say dont do it. You will be looking at getting a lot of bespoke components made. getting the engine into the car may prove to be the easy part getting the drive onto the road may prove to be the real challenge. I have witnessed some very exiting conversions not come close to delivering the performance expected and that can be a hard pill to swallow.

I've got a vauxhall red top subframe sitting here - why dont we just ram a BINI lump in there and see how it fairs?

It's an observation based on they way he acted i.e. childish behaviour, so it was observation not - an insult

And no, it was not aimed at WilH
