Went to MED today and spoke to Steve about doing my head chambers out to decrease my compression ratio. I took both of my heads down to make sure one of them was suitable, and it turned out that both heads had been skimmed too much, as they were designed for high compression engines, meaning there isn't enough metal in the chambers to machine out to lower the compression in my engine. That means I am going to have to buy a standard head or get MED to do me a turbo head at a cost of £600. The only problem is that there is an 8 week waiting list for a head, as he currently has 38 heads on order!!!

I will probably sell both of my heads to fund the new head, so I shouldn't have to spend much to get the head.

I saw a unit for rent locally, only about 1/4 mile down the road, so i went to look at it today and I am now a tennant

Its 15ft x 15ft, so there is plenty of room to work on the mini, with both doors open. Its safe and secure too. It doesnt have electricity yet, but thats no problem as i've been offered a 2.5kw honda generator for peanuts, from a friend. He said it will easily power lights, radio, grinders, welders all at the same time ;)

I've moved pretty much all of my mini bits down there and its only taken up a little corner.

The only thing ive got to take over is the mini, which i will either push or get dad to tow me.

I was going to take some pics but it was a bit dark.

The best thing about the unit is I can store bits like turbo's, manifolds, and other bits I buy without mum and dad seeing them

That's wicked news James!

Can't wait for the day when we all get back on the road, I sat outside Tesco after finishing my shift waiting for my parents to pick me up and just daydreamed  It's gonna be sweet.

Moved the mini down to the unit, bolted the drivers seat back in and Dad towed me down in the rover. The front brakes had seized on, so i got a screwdriver and pushed the pads back off the discs. Doesn't really matter that the discs are corroded as ive got the Metro 4 pots to go on with vented discs.

Once at the unit, I gutted the inside out, both seats, rear seats, carpets, doorcards. I'm going to give the rear seat back a lick of paint as it hasn't been done from the factory. Shouldn't need much prep as its like new because its been covered by the rear seats.

Also bought an electric hoist for lifting the engine in and out, and bought a die grinder to do a bit of porting and pollishing :)

My brother and grandad are going to nock together a collapsable A frame to mount the hoist with wheels to make it easier.
