Got quite a lot done today, thanks to Dan and my brother!
The engine is as good as out, just needs the driveshafts and the linkage removing, then it can be lifted out.
Cut all the speaker wires and resoldered them to remove miles of excess wire, so thats all good. Also removed the petrol ready for the Spi tank to be fitted, but it would be better to get and fit the new fuel hoses before fitting the tank!
no pics unfortunately as i forgot the camera.

Are you going to get the engine back in before it goes to Carl for body work?

not sure yet, depends when ratty is finished, and how long it takes to rebuild the engine. Hopefully shouldn't take too long to rebuild, but do want to take my time and make sure its spot on, as it should be running descent power .

Also purchased a few megajolt bits, like a coil pack, EDIS, and crank sensor. Thanks Dan for ordering it for me.

Also looked at a crank sensor bracket and a bottom pulley with a built in trigger wheel from MED. Not too bad prices either.

A fair bit done today, on the interior side.
What was a mass of speaker wires in the passenger foot well is now a thing of the past!!
All of the wires to the front dash speakers, door speakers and 6x9's have all been cut, shortened, soldered and heat shrunk to insulate. They have been neatly tied together and routed in the shortest way, and now the carpet is back in and no wires are visable!
Also wired the auxillary fan to a nice switch in the car, missing out the fan switch on the radiator, because I never heard the fan come on. I just need to find an ignition live to connect to the last wire. Tested it with a spare battery I have and it works great :X
Also rewired the volt gauge as last time i wired it up it burnt the CD player live wire, but tested and now works fine, just need to find an ignition live to connect upto, like the fan switch.

The only bad thing today was i found some rust on the drivers side sill at the front. I poked around a bit, and it just got worse, its a hole straight through the sill and the floor inside the car. Looks like it needs a new sill, and maybe a repair to the drivers footwell where it meets the sill >_<

Here is the update from the weekend, just incase anyone else other that me reads this project lol.

Started off by wiring up the electric fuel pump, slotted the tank in to get the correct length of wire. Found some relevant earths, and ignition lives for several things that need an ignition live. So here is the tank in place, and the relay wiring!

Any suggestions as to where I could secure the relay and hide some of the wiring would be appreciated.

I then replaced one of the red/white head unit to amp cables (cant remember what they are called lol) and tucked the wires away neatly. The wires will be covered by the carpets and the speaker board that goes under the rear seat base.

Posted Image

I am going to drill the lower one of the two holes in the rear bin and route the thicker cables through there and then behind the rear door card. That way all wiring will be hidden :D

Posted Image

This is how the passenger footwell is looking. It could do with a hoover, but before it was a massive mess of wires !

Posted Image
I'm really pleased with how it looks now. Anyone who saw it before would know how bad it was. P.S the speaker attaches to the doorcard, but the doorcards aren't back on the doors yet.

Another thing completed is the volt gauge is now working, without melting all the wires as before lol. Only a little thing, but its something else less to do.

Posted Image

And finally this is the auxillary fan switch that I wired in, as it never used to work before. Any sugestions as where to mount it?

Posted Image

Lastly proof that the speaker wiring is finally done!!!

:(
Thanks for looking.
James.

Some nice updates there, what ignition live did you use in the front?

I read your thread so don't worry about that :D .

Thanks, it was a good weekend, flowed nicely! Not sure what they are for, just found an ign+ at the fusebox. Luckily there were a few terminals not in use, so just popped the spades on those ones :w00t:

Oh thanks, glad someone does lol :(
