This is how the intercooler came. The core is is really good condition, but the top and bottom were a bit pitted and dirty.

This is how the top bit turned out after I sanded it down and pollished it up!

Started to clean up the cores between the fins, the bottom two cores are done compared to the top two.

Then played around with a few positions for the pipework and the cooler position. Decided to mount the cooler where it is and drill holes in the bonnet.

Pleasantly surprised to find duplex timing in there as it should be!

And the turbo clutch. Not sure if it is a turbo one. Any way of identifying this?

Thanks,
James.

Nice intercooler, nice duplex timing gear
lol and nice unknown clutch lol, hmmmm, wonder what it could be lol.
thanks lol

it looks like quite a heavy duty clutch cover with a brass/copper ring thing around it. Because the other bits are genuine like they were supposed to be, i think it probably is a turbo one.

Well if it wasn't, I'm sure you would have found out by now lol

Did manage to pick up a flywheel from MED though.

Oh yeah, its the first verto lightweight flywheel of this type from MED off the production line

It just needs a little finnishing, i.e the little lip needs filing off to make it smooth.
enjoy

I started on the flywheel today when i was on my lunch break. I've taken the lip back with a die grinder all the way around and started to file/smooth it out till its flush with the rest of the surface.

Good stuff
.
Worked today untill about 1ish, then spent a couple of hours on the mini. Stripped the engine down, removed the clutch and flywheel, split the block and gearbox and removed the pistons and rods

Also noticed little chips/dents on number 4 big end cap and the underside of the piston from when the gearbox went bang lol. Its nothing major, and I'm changing the pistons anyway so it doesn't matter.

I'll put some pics up soon.

Just got to take the rods and pistons to MED on monday to have the new omegas fitted to the rods. Shouldn't take too long to do, if I take them in early, they might be done for when I'm on my way home

I also need to buy a gasket set for when I come to build it back up. That might be another MED purchase

Yeah, surprised how it didn't take long to strip down, suppose when you've done them before

Yes its not your first time lol, so you didn't find anything that shouldn't be there, considering it was built by 'you-know-who'
